So, I guess that when you buy a house, a car or anything, all other things being equal, you'll only buy the product made by the highest hourly paid workers, right?

I admire Ron Paul's consistency and honesty, but he believes that the Social Safety Net is an abomination, therefore I cannot support him.

What the heck does that have to do with Government Policy that allows companies, headed by people who live here and benefit from the stability and protection of the US govt, to lay off American workers, hire people in China, and destroy our economy?

Capitalism says go after the lowest wages, but why would the policy of the government, whose duty is to protect all the people, not just the richest, allow them to do that? When you get past 10th grade economics class maybe we can talk about Government policy.

As is the case with most big gov't policies, it was bad and unintended gov't policies, not something the gov't thought they were doing.

So I'm guessing the answer you aren't posing is: remove all EPA regulations and abolish the minimum wage..if not that then what exactly? You could cut income taxes to $0 and corporate taxes to $0 and guess what? CEOs would still be outsourcing jobs until the country became a third world cesspool like the countries they were initially outsourcing to.

GOP supporters have no plan...cut taxes, that is their answer to everything. It's a stupid ideology that achieves nothing in terms of our economy.

Yes, abolish the minimum wage.

The minimum wage is beloved by the unions as it protects their higher wages, but the forgotten downside is that it leads to higher than necessary unemployment among the unskilled minorities, preventing them from getting on the first step on the economic ladder and earning their way to better paying jobs because their skills are worth less than the artificial minimum wage.

Maybe you can be Romney's economic advisor. Yes, the person flipping burgers at Wendy's making $7.50 an hour is "protecting union wages".

Hilarious.

I'm befuddled as well Why would someone who earns 50,000 a year be so concerned with the tax increase of someone else who makes1-3 million year and does not create jobs? My guess is Tooooooooo Much Rush and Faux news

Hilarious.

If skilled workers make fifteen dollars an hour and unskilled workers make three dollars an hour, skilled workers are five times as expensive as the unskilled. Imposing a minimum wage of five dollars an hour makes skilled workers relatively more attractive by making them only three times as expensive as unskilled workers. This explains why unions, whose members have historically been highly skilled and seldom hold minimum wage jobs, invariably support legislation increasing minimum wages.

Most noneconomists believe that minimum wage laws protect workers from exploitation by employers and reduce poverty.

Most economists believe that minimum wage laws cause unnecessary hardship for the very people they are supposed to help.

The reason is simple: although minimum wage laws can set wages, they cannot guarantee jobs. In practice they often price low-skilled workers out of the labor market. Employers typically are not willing to pay a worker more than the value of the additional product that he produces.

This means that an unskilled youth who produces $4.00 worth of goods in an hour will have a very difficult time finding a job if he must, by law, be paid $5.15 an hour. As Princeton economist David F. Bradford wrote, “The minimum wage law can be described as saying to the potential worker: ‘Unless you can find a job paying at least the minimum wage, you may not accept employment.’”
