Actually, it's liberals that are becoming more of a joke by the day.

On everyone but the wealthy, and he is leading the Republican polls. I don't see how a Republican can get elected if this is the best that they have.

As Jon Stewart illustrates, raising the top rates by 3% raises the same revenue as taking half the wealth from the bottom 50%. That's why taxing the poor is such a nutty idea.

I think it's a shame that we have to continually turn to John Stewart or Stephen Colbert to make sense of these discussions. With that said, Republicans and tea party members are not willing to put their money where their mouth is as we saw with the debt ceiling discussions. I think if an offer was made to institute some tax on the bottom half of americans in return to closing loopholes, subsidies and ensuring that the top 2% along with companies pay what they owe, the Republicans will still vote against it.

Well if you want to position it that way, sure maybe it sounds "nutty" to some, but how about the idea of taxing EVERYONE? If the majority (the bottom 50%) can just continue to elect candidates that continue the handouts, don't you think that will put us in a worse position overall?
