NEW YORK -- Don Imus has reached a settlement with CBS over his multimillion-dollar contract and is negotiating with WABC radio to resume his broadcasting career there, according to CBS and a person familiar with the negotiations.

Imus and CBS Radio reached a settlement that would pre-empt the dismissed radio personality's threatened $120 million breach-of-contract lawsuit, CBS spokesman Dana McClintock said Tuesday.

No terms of the settlement were disclosed.

Imus is a dried up old gasbag, but he's still ok.

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are attention seeking whores.

CBS are a bunch of spinless, *******.

And yes, i'm a radio broadcaster, full time.. so I understand the business.

Fox initially reported the settlement to be 20 million, plus the clause he can't verbally trash his employer. It's a fair settlement. Imus was paid to be controversial, then they fired him for doing exactly what they paid him to do.

Spineless rather than spinless, correct?
I am sure the spin is rampant.
Actually, I think your post about covers it.
I personally thought Imus' old white guy attempt at some sort of ghetto-speak was pretty stupid and hurtful, but obviously, money speaks the loudest.

The new contract will pay him more than CBS. Everyone comes out at the end OK, even the players at Duke who are suing him. Isn't America great?

As much as I thought Imus shouldn't have been taken off the air, he sort of got what he deserved for providing a platform for every left wing liberal in the country, all of whom stabbed him in the back in the end.

I don't think he was trying to outsmart anyone. He just wanted to work, particularly during a telethon to raise money for sick kids. Sharpton, and the fact that it was a slow newsweek, make the big fuss that lead to the firing. If this had happened the next week during the Virginia Tech shooting, no one would have cared. Such is the obsessive nature of 24 hour cable news programs.
If the remark was so terrible, why did the mainstream media repeat the exact same phrase over and over hundreds of times? If he called someone the N word, would they have repeated that so many times?
I think the basketball team should sue and get money based on how many times this phrase was used to "demean" them. Imus said it once, Sharpton said it dozens, and the media said it thousands of times.

Well blame that on Cho, but he's getting what he deserved. How pathetic old man gotta pick on some college kids to get his jollies.......He got fired because CBS thought he crossed the line. Sharpton has no power.
