Why do you think they hate it?

How about an account amendment by amendment.

The right seems to be the ones who want to amend it to enforce their religious beliefs

Nah.

How about this....SS is unconstitutional, the "affordable healthcare act" is unconstitutional, medicare, medicaid, are all unconstitutional.

Internment camps were unconstitutional.

I could go on.

Simple. Because they want the government to control all aspects of our lives and our constitution is in direct opposition to their ultimate goal.

Because you think the left hates the Constitution, that's why. A dose of reality needs to be introduced. I actually don't know anybody who hates the Constitution. There are those who wish to interpret it from the perspective of the 21st century. There are those who believe it stands on its own without need for modern interpretation. I'm in the former group and I tend to be left-leaning. I also believe some rights, whether granted by the Constitution or other documents, do need to be curtailed for the common good. I ALSO think there are some rights that are missing that need to be affirmed or reaffirmed. For me, it's a living document.

As I scour my mind, I find the right is the most antagonistic towards the Constitution because it wants to be able to infringe on others. I mean, has the left ever wanted to alter the Constitution, say, for example, to make same sex marriage illegal? Did the left oppose the Equal Rights Amendment? The left hasn't suggested removing the right to bear arms. They just want to interject some sanity in the socially dangerous race to be armed to the teeth. If anything, I believe the left would gladly add rights to the Constitution.

What gave you that idea OP? If it were not for it, we would be living in a christian theocracy. You can rejoice with the 'in god we trust' label, but we are a nation of laws and not ruled by 10 commandments. We have enough problems with the church-state wall now - without it, we would be a christian saudi arabia. Not saying that people on the right dont want the wall - but there are many more on the right who would be ok with jesusland.
