I see your point, and would tend to agree, but speaking as a parent it should be up to the PARENTS to take care of their children.

Rich, that's jolly. I guess you consider being $200 trillion in unfunded liabilities to be rich.

And you want to add more "freebies?"

I'm beginning to think liberals have reading comprehension problems. The question with the program is not about feeding poor kids but should the government feed ALL kids. Also the reasons for the program are questionable. Do you have a comment about that?

Break it down the way you want - the USA still has the largest economy in the world and the highest standard of living on Earth. It's still the richest country on Earth - and the rich keep getting richer while everyone else gets the kick in the teeth.

Who said I was a liberal? I'm an American who doesn't believe that children in this country should ever be hungry. Should the government feed all kids? Not necessarily......but they should be able to assure that no child goes hungry here.

I think it's impossible to go hungry in this country with all of the duplicitous food programs. There's food stamps, WIC, school meals, etc. Just look at all of the overweight kids in low income neighborhoods. They aren't lacking for food.

But if you want to go with funky accounting and FedGov propped GDP numbers then the US is the richest.
