I assume this was sarcasm of course, but here's my understanding of how this gateway drug logic works.
Ask 100 heroin addicts if they ever smoked pot. Just about all say yes.
Ask 100 pot users if they ever did heroin....and???
One of these questions creates a logical fallacy. Guess which?
Yes, it was sarcastic, but it is an excellent period piece to watch (from 1968) if you have time, if only to check out the technical quality of the film as well as life at that time in color and filled with young people.
You know, if one really thinks about it, everything is a *Gateway* to everything
Life is a Gateway.
We can make the argument that for anything negative or positive that happens to us, we can find a Gateway of a previous action that happened and was directly related to the negative or positive incident. This can be applied to everything in life.
So, the Gateway argument can be pretty much shot down.

I think a lot of the continued prohibition of marijuana has to do with tradition and stubbornness on the part of the federal government. As in, they made it illegal decades ago for a reason. Must have been a good one, let's not question it.......
Seriously, we can answer the question in one sentence.
Too many people in power *feel* that they have too much to lose to pursue this matter, whether the loss is real, or imaginary - as politicians and high-placed corporates are some of the most fearful people you´ll ever meet.

All the more reason to elect Ron Paul in 2012. He may have difficulty and face much opposition from congress, and the corporate elitists, but he'll certainly make a hole in their heads!

Strel, it's either that or continue to allow the status quo, which I don't know about, but to me it doesn't seem to be working, and hasn't for awhile now.
I would like to see Pot legalized just to see which control freaks objected most.
