Oh? Did you mean ILLEGAL drugs?

If so, why? Just because a drug is legal or illegal does not mean it is OK or not OK to take while working.
Liability.

I had to let one of my best friends go because of a bad drug test.

So, you then you don't give them an option to try and seek help? Though I can't imagine why anyone would need to go for rehab because of marijuana, as there is no proof that it causes physical addiction.

BTW, it is not just the insurance companies.

The DOT frowns on drugs too.

But chances are, they weren't stoned when they were working. Secondly, don't you own the company? If you're the boss, why couldn't they work?

Was he a good employee otherwise? Was he stoned at work? If not, then it shouldn't matter. I mean, it is your business after all, but still being that he was a best friend, and all.... Also, it seems that companies will fire people at the drop of a hat for the smallest infraction! Not saying you're one of them, but it is becoming more frequent.

So true! WOW! We agree on something! I manage a concert venue and the problems I encounter are with drunk people. Stoner crowds are always much better behaved. The police I work with also agree that not only it should be legal, they much prefer working events that draw a stoner crowd rather than a drinking crowd. I know *I* appreciate it more, no vomit to clean up when the stoners are here. We just have to take their lighters before they come in (they DO get them back!).

Do you test for all other substances that might impair ones ability to work? Like antihistamines or cough syrup?
