Texas governor Rick Perry's office confirms that Perry misspoke when he called Juarez the most dangerous city in America yesterday. His office says Governor Perry corrected himself immediately

All in all, it's really a minor misstatement, but to those here who spin his statement as factually correct, why would he admit a mistake and correct it? You don't correct something that is correct.

Face it - you'll spin anything and admit nothing.

It might be one thing if the comment came from the Governor of New Hampshire, for instance. But Texas? And he was OK with the comment until an aide (who evidently has a better grasp of things) corrected him. The man now takes a seat of honor next to Sarah Palin, who referred to Africa as a 'country.'

Texas-sized gaffe: Rick Perry says Juarez is 'in America' - Andy Barr - POLITICO.com

Let's see how many of his defenders deflect by saying "uh, what about Obama"
...and 0bama thinks Juarez is one of the 57 states within the United States.

If you visit El Paso, you will see that much of Juarez is in El Paso. Visit the county hospital and you'll find Juarez in the maternity wards, welfare offices, you'll find much of Juarez in the schools, in the Head Start programs, much of Juarez is in the county jail, it's over partying in El Paso, driving on the streets.

An open border allows Juarez to be in the USA.

No, one of the 60 states. Get your gaffes correct if you're going to use them.

Perry misspoke, these slip ups happen all the time. Now, if the *******s want to trade tit for tat with 0bama's slip ups, we can start with his "Muslim faith" and not knowing the age of his own daughter, or even what year it is.

I'm not for Perry because he's been quite pro-open borders himself -- Texas is very lax as far as the border goes.

But he's not quite wrong. Juarez and El Paso are essentially one city with very a very lax border between them. Also many from Juarez, even still living in Juarez were born at the county hospital in El Paso and are technically US citizens and are caught up in the cartel violence, these US citizens have been getting killed in these cartel wars.

Bowie High School: Juárez gunfire prompts review of campus security - El Paso Times

After a district police officer asked Padilla about reported gunfire, the team went into the locker room as a precaution for about an hour, the coach said. There were no injuries at Bowie.

Last year, several rounds hit El Paso City Hall and one struck a building at the University of Texas at El Paso. Juárez shootings have also caused temporary closures of West Paisano Drive near the border.

I'm not trying to spin anything, I can't stand Rick Perry but I do love when *******s here on CD try to attack someone on a feeble talking point like this and they turn out to be wrong. Rick Perry misspoke, big damn deal.

I don't thrive on ignorant talking points like liberals do, people make mistakes.

Last week, kids practicing football at a high school in El Paso had to duck gunfire from Juarez:

I think Perry just misspoke. But for any liberals that doubt whether violence in Juarez affects El Paso, I recommend visiting the border. Perhaps spend a night or two on the Mexico side- where there is no longer a police force because the drug gangs keep killing them:

But focussing on a misspeak can keep the focus off Obama's failed border policies and the fact that US citizens are dodging Mexican gunfire in El Paso.
