Unions may use your dues to contribute to federal PACs, as long as they have your written consent. There is no federal law that blanket bans union PAC contributions being funded by union dues
Wrong. Union dues and PAC contributions must be collected separately and even need to be kept in separate bank accounts by law. Members are free NOT to give to their union's PAC drives and union dues cannot be used to fund PACs. Period.
Wow, how clueless can one be. The corporations money isn't the employee's money. Union dues money is the member's money. Taking money from someone and using it to support things you yourself doesn't support is the issue. The union leadership can use THEIR own money to donate all they want.
No, the union dues is NOT the members money. It used to be but then they used it to pay their dues and now it's the unions money. Does the union need the members permission to use the dues money for other things besides campaign contributions
I pay dues to National Geographic and the Handel and Haydn Society, also the Museum of Fine Arts, using your logic that's "my money" and yet I have never authorized any of them to give to campaigns
Union dues dont belong to the union, it belongs to the employees, which is why they need permission to give away someone elses money.
Corporations dont need employees permission to give away money thats not the employees, that money belongs to the corporation.
How about the customers? Using your logic the money that comprises the company's profit doesn't belong to them, it belongs to the customers. Do corporations need written consent from their customers?

No because the money corporations give, is THEIR OWN.
No it is not. If union dues don't belong to the union then the money corporations have, or at least that which they get from sales and commissions etc, isn't theirs, it belongs to the customer
Great example here is insurance companies. A union member pays union dues for insurance in case he's unfairly fired or something and also to get him better pay and benefits. A client gives money to an insurance company in case his house burns down or his car is stolen or something. What the hell is the difference?

Ummm... I think its clear you really stuck your foot in it with your initial post.
Now you have gone from naive to insane. Might be time to quit.
How many hoops does this written consent involve anyway? Is the member allowed to sign a form giving consent to use any of his dues for campaigns so they don't have to come to him everytime they want to contribute? Is the union allowed to make up forms where the employee only has to sign his name and put in the amount? Is the union even allowed to ask for money?
People pay dues for lots of things. Do any of these other things besides unions require written consesnt? If I belonged to my local multimillionaire country club would they need my written consent to give a contribution to the Republicans?
