I am wondering: How come if I support a fiscally conservative candidate, it usually means I am supporting a candidate who does not support gay marriage, doesn't believe in evolution and/or global warming?

Why can't we have a fiscally conservative candidate who isn't using the fiscal conservatism as a proxy to attack boys kissing, public libraries and separation of church and state?

Please think about your answer... I am not interested in hearing talking points regurgitated.

Because the left doesn't have anyone that supports fiscal constraint.

If that is true, find me a Republican who supports my right as a gay man to get married in all 50 states, serve openly in the military and believes that evolution is fact.

Those aren't very important issues in the grand scheme of things.

Plus he said this Paul said marriage is “a personal, spiritual matter,” that people shouldn’t need a license to get married, and that it becomes a state concern only when one state tries to impose its views on another.

Get goverment out of marriage.

I think that different individuals would have different opinions on that. Whether or not I have equal rights/protection is a very important issue to me.

I don't think many run for office, certainly not for President, but there are some. I think many would support civil unions. I'm not sure about the military point but think there are many that would listen to what the military said about that point. I think there are many that accept evolution and may or may not think that it excludes the presence of a God. Anyway, back to your main point, I do get tired of the focus on the social issues in debates etc. I believe that most of the country is more toward the center on those points; it's the purely partisan doctrinaires that don't vary on any point, but that's who gets the most attention.

There are plenty of fiscally conservative, and more liberal socially individuals. They go by blue dog democrats.
