I have had quite a few surgeries and have been prescribed pain-meds of the narcotic-type
post-surgery. Yes, they can be tasty and quite enjoyable........and you can get addicted after a few weeks on them. But hey, when the script runs out, don't be a dummy and try to get more or you WILL get end up getting hooked.

It isn't that expensive when you get it from a pharmacy (legally). It becomes expensive when you try to get it on the street which a oxi pill (a "blue") can fetch upwards of $30 a pill .The same with "dilotta" which is more potent than "oxi". A script of 30 of those pills from a pharmacy probably won't cost you $900 but 30 pills sold at $30 each brings in a nice profit of $900.00

That's why addicts often turn to heroin instead. BTW those pills, most addicts shoot them with a needle they don't eat them.

Opiate addiction is no joke. People often become hooked when they are prescribed these drugs. If and when the time comes that the patient is cut off, some will turn to the black market. While this is illegal, they are legitimate addicts. Prosecuting people doesn't change the fact.

It's a progression from swallowing to chewing to inhalation to shooting.

Some never shoot and others get hooked on the needle. Same deal with heroin.

Then there packing.

( I used to volunteer in a hospital detox facility)
