You just gave a summary of Bush's 8 years. When Obama beat McCain that was the best thing that happened to America since Bill Clinton.

This poster hails from the beginning of the Reconstruction era, just after the Civil War ended. The poster is correct in some respects. The so-called “Radical Republicans,” in and out of the US Congress, favored suffrage (voting rights) for the newly freed slaves. That policy was opposed in large part by the Democratic Party, using language that was sometimes viciously racist. Note that this poster was made by a northern Democrat, illustrating how divisive the issues of race and black rights were at the time even outside the South.

I disagree.

Tea Partiers are not anti-black as much as they are pro White power. They don't hate Obama because he is Black, they hate him because he is not 100% White.

The meaning of racism is a belief that differences in intelligence or traits among different people can be entirely due to one's race. A racist is one who practices racism.

Discrimination is prejudicial treatment of an individual based on his race and forming stereotypes of that individual.

The two words are often used interchangeably by the public but there is a subtle difference.

My impression of Tea Partiers are that they hate Obama because he is Black. But I don't believe Tea Partiers think Obama is stupid or can't lead because he is Black (rather because he is a Democrat).

Tea Partiers are not racist against Obama because of his race. Rather they discriminate against him.
LOL

How can average American citizens discriminate against the President?

You are going a long way to say that the Tea Party is racist.

No, it won't. Read some history. What's being called the Tea Party now is nothing more than a 21st century version of the nativist, mid-19th century American Party (known more familiarly as the Know-Nothings).

But isn't it comforting to know that even though Tea Partiers admit to discrimination, they're not racists?

I don't discriminate against anyone . . . I hate everyone equally.
