Now it's up to congress.

This is why they need to keep most of the money in the state and stop funding the federal governmnet for these programs like FEMA. PA has PEMA why can't each state have its own funding and plan.

Fema should be abolished.

How will everybody be able to play the victim if there's no FEMA to plunder? What will all those contractors do who follow storms around, get a downpayment on work then run off? They need jobs too.

A thread above this one was criticizing Ron Paul because he said we should get rid of FEMA. After reading this, I think he is on to something.

FEMA has limited funds. The Irene damage is going to be costly. And it's not just something in NYC. Vermont was hammered, towns cut off entirely, highways gone, etc. Vermont's state equivalent of FEMA was wiped out by the flooding, in fact.

The Hurricane did not only touch on NY and NJ, but also PA, CT, NE. There are still thousands without power and thousands without homes.

Its more a case of liittle money and basci needs tot eh most people really. But its in the end goign to depend on cuts in other areas of spendig to go into funding FEMA with more money.Having been fro a Rita area most goes to bascci infrastructure ans anyone thinking individual because of no insurance has a long;long wait at best to get any help. But then this alos ups your risk to insure meaning higher insurance cost in future;especailly flood.

Maybe the United in United States should be abolished. Every state can afford to stand alone when a disaster hits? Maybe when that happens we force the state that needs government help and aid to secede.

I wonder if Japan felt that way after the nuclear disaster. As long as it was not close to a particular city or province, to hell with the ones that were closest...after all they all shared in utilizing the nuclear energy produced.
