Please if you don't believe in abortion, don't have one.

But keep your religious beliefs to yourself and off of my body.
Well, since you told us all that you are sterile and have never wanted a child, your opinion is really worthless.....

Thanks for clearing things up for me. Silly me thinking it was a baby Next time a niece or cousin of mine gets pregnant I'll be sure to throw them a parasitic shower instead of a baby shower

An unwanted fetus is a parasite. A wanted fetus is a baby.

Again, why should we punish women for not wanting to have a baby?

I still fail to see why stopping a normally natural process is bad. That's like stopping cancer. And I don't see protests of people stopping cancer research.

The only difference is that in about 9 1/2 months, the product can move on its own and breath its own air.

Pregnancy is a serious weight that some women just can't handle. And I'm not just talking about physical weight. There are some serious detrimental problems that can occur with pregnancy. Even carrying to term can be life threatening.

Why should women who aren't mature enough to raise a kid be forced to bear the responsibility of doing so? Even if they give up for adoption, they're taking care of the soon-to-be child for almost 10 months.

I wanted my daughter. I was first surprised, then excited when I saw the pregnancy test results. I was proud to make my first OBGYN appointment.

The amount of time, energy, money I used up to make everything perfect.. was so worth it. I just don't see a woman who has no feelings for the end result putting in the kind of effort to eat healthy, exercise, and only do activities that are safe.

You continue to make my case for CONTRACEPTION ~

If a woman doesn't want to be pregnant and is adult enough to make the decision to engage in sexual activity, then she should be SMART ENOUGH to use contraception....

Contraception fails.

A woman should not be forced to go through a pregnancy and give birth to a child she was trying to prevent in the first place.

If you believe abortion is murder, don't have one.

In this country, for now at least, a woman has the right to determine what she will and will not do with her body and what she chooses to do is between her and whatever deity or lack thereof she may profess belief in.

A friend of mine in high school got pregnant while she was on the pill (and taking it correctly, in so far as she had a cell phone alarm exactly when she should take the pill) and her boyfriend was using condoms. Contraception fails. Her case was a huge statistical anamoly.

If abortion was banned, I do not think we would really have to worry about punishment so much as what would happen to the 1.3 million babies born? Sure, some mothers would take care of them and be financially stable. But lets say half of them end up in foster care or in families needing welfare- on top of the already flawed foster care system and the testy welfare system. Are all of you against abortion willing to open your home to an unwanted child or two? How would you feel about raising your taxes to take care of these children.

No one wants to see an abortion... but nobody wants to take responsibility of the costs that holding that opinion brings.

posted by citigirl,
I would make them watch 100 abortions up front and close, at various stages, and see if they still think abortion should be used as birth control.

I understand how you feel some woman seem to use abortion as birthcontrol. I know abortion is not for me at the same time I can not force my beliefs on other people.
I do know what you are saying, but abortion needs to stay legal for women.
