I wanted to gauge the amount of happiness the Krugman Keynesian Klan is experiencing over the economic stimulus that will come from having to rebuild from such a disaster. Thanks for your participation!
This is a silly thread to try to make it seem that those that believe in economics are gleeful about destruction. Like everyone, nobody wants devastation.
On Aug. 24th, Krugman addressed people like you who make dishonest and disingenuous accusations.
The fact that breaking windows would make a society poorer (fewer windows) is precisely why nobody ever proposes stimulating the economy by deliberately smashing windows. But the way the dialogue works is that first a Keynesian observes that fiscal stimulus can increase growth in a depressed economy. Second, as an attempted reductio, a conservative says “if that was true, then you could increase growth by breaking a bunch of windows.” Third, the Keynesian accurately points out that you could, in fact, increase growth by breaking windows. Fourth, the conservative accuses Keynesians of wanting to break windows or believing that window-breaking increases wealth.
But it’s not just breaking windows. As regular readers know, I’ve pointed out that World War II ended the Great Depression. Then critics say, how could war, a destructive activity, do anything good? I answer that when the economy is in a liquidity trap, there are a lot of perverse consequences. And then the critics declare that I’m a warmonger.
You have to assume that this kind of argument is made in deliberate bad faith — although I suspect that many of these people don’t remember what it is to make an argument in good faith.

The poll question is "how happy is Krugman over the economic boom resulting from Irene". You should vote "very happy" if you believe this.
No shocker, you missed the point. It's like asking, "millions die due to tsunami. Are you happy population growth slowed?"
Whether Irene is going to be stimulative or not, nobody is "happy."
Moreover, looking at you choice of answers, nobody could possibly take you seriously.
The Krugman Keynesian Klan could be very happy, as economic stimulus caused from natural disaster could improve the incumbent's chances of re-election.

If you pay attention to Krugman at all, you would know that Dr. Krugman is no Obama fan and therefore, has no stake in Obama's re-election

I hate to say it, but if you're in the construction industry, natural disasters are a wolf in sheep's clothing. Especially in slow times.
Remember, folks, Krugman is the same genius who hypothesized that a massive government program to meet a non-existent threat of alien invasion would end our current downturn in 18 months. He clearly believes that we can improve our position by wasting money we do not have.
But the premise of this thread is ridiculous, as others have noted.
