There is nothing wrong with having a conflict. They can't make it. It is not a political issue, just that they are busy people. And yes, they are WORKING people...maybe they have other commitments, or even the visit may conflict with the views of the people who make their pay check...so...time to be pragmatic. Don't make it more than it is...they can't make it....the Obama's just need to invite folks over who will drop everything to be there...
President Barack Obama will honor NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and the 11 other Chase drivers from last year in a White House ceremony on Wednesday – but nearly half of the 2010 playoff contenders won't be there.
NASCAR said Thursday that five drivers – Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart – will not be attending the White House visit due to "schedule conflicts."
They must be very busy people!
Is that all this president does, rub elbows with famous people? I swear he has more parties with the wealthy and the famous.
I guess all these celebrity events would not be so noticeable, if it did not appear as if the economy, jobs, debt, and deficit, had all taken such a turn for the worse these past few years.
These drivers are smart enough to know these politicians are all a fraud. I would not go either, total waste of my time plus I try to surround myself with decent people.

The GOP has now become the "official" party not only of the South, but of rednecks everywhere... just like Harleys, 4x4's, guns, booze, tats, trailer parks, meth, the KKK, confederate flags and NASCAR!

It's part of considering themselves a "warrior culture", having come from a long line of constant "feuding" with everyone from the Hatfields & McCoys, back to fighting the Romans and later the Brits back on the Scottish borderlands. Then later on in Northern Ireland (aka the "Ulster Scotts"), followed by several migrations to the American South (& the Civil War). Check out VA Senator Jim Webb's "Born Fighting" or even watch Mel Gibson's "Braveheart", for an idea of how they see themselves. They considered Bush one of their own, while dissing Obama is their way of saying "you ain't one of us" (just in case we didn't get the "Birther" thang). That good 'ol east Texas boy Karl Rove understood them well... "God, Guns & Guts" (or Gays, as the case may be)!
Of course you have facts to back up your koolaid delusion, right?
No delusion. It's known to all with half a brain. 95% of NASCAR fans attending races or watching on television are blue-collar, redneck, beer drinking, fried chicken eating, gas-passing, good 'ol boys and gals that wipe their greasy hands on their wife-beater T-shirts and give the middle finger to their most hated driver.
