They have (nearly) similar schedules. It definitely is fishy. America being so polarized at the moment, it's quite tempting to think they declined because of differing ideologies.
The heck they do. Each driver has a different schedule and different things they have to do for events for owners, sponsers, car manufacture, fan events working out with their teams, They are extremely busy the entire season. They only really get off 2 weeks a season. The rest of the time they are on the go.
President Barack Obama will honor NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and the 11 other Chase drivers from last year in a White House ceremony on Wednesday – but nearly half of the 2010 playoff contenders won't be there.
NASCAR said Thursday that five drivers – Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart – will not be attending the White House visit due to "schedule conflicts."
They must be very busy people!
Big ****ing deal. How does that in any way affect anyone's life?
If you know anything about NASCAR you know these guys are booked up these guys have responsibilities to their sponsors, a visit to the president wont make them any money. It's not a big deal and means nothing.
Maybe Obama (and some people on this board) don't realize that you have a responsiblity to your family and your job before you go running off on side show adventures.
Sounds like the NASCAR guys have some integrety.
Getting a pic with Obama wouldn't be a big deal to several people. He seems to invite everyone and their dog in for a photo op. Doesn't make you feel special when that happens.
Not everyone is on the campaign trail 24/7. Nascar drivers do their JOB...to earn their fame.
Exactly and 5 of their drivers snubbing the first black president will not help them in this quest.
Please put the race card back in your pocket! do you know for sure that they didn't send a note to the Presidents people thanking him for the invite but sorry they could not make it ? Again so whats the big deal people here seam to be reading a lot into their actions anyway.

If I were a NASCAR driver it would be hard for me to do a photo op with a clown
