Why's this a big deal? If some guy who wanted to rob me blind invited me over I wouldn't go either.

They have (nearly) similar schedules. It definitely is fishy. America being so polarized at the moment, it's quite tempting to think they declined because of differing ideologies.

NO! Maybe they felt the President should be tending to more important issues that our country is facing ( In reality there are really several I can think of ) rather then be a part of another "Presidential Photo session" and this is their polite way of stating this fact. After all is was an "Invitation to attend", not a "DEMAND" to attend. When was the last time you were asked to attend an event and declined. To me it is not such a big deal unless you make it one.

Well considering that they only have a handful of races left to get into the Chase and 2 series running at Richmond that week , it is akin to inviting NFL playoff contender players to the WH the week before the playoffs.

Look how many sponsors can be on a NASCAR, they have obligations to all of them. A lot of them take private jets home after a Sat nite or Sunday race and Monday is about the only day they have off, very busy people indeed.

There is a lot to be concerned about regarding the POTUS. Can you please tell me how he has robbed you?

Yes how immature. Letting partisanship and politics get in the way of partisanship and politics.

I'm not a NASCAR driver. Obama is not trying to confiscate more of my salary....yet.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports some of the Giants are privately complaining about having to give up an off-day, combined with an overnight flight to visit the President.
The NASCAR guys - not attending - have given me a new found respect for their thought processes. With government today is such a state of failure it should be more important to protect one's own career.

So, the POTUS is taking their money? I was not aware that the president could decide whom to tax and rates, etc. I thought it was the congress who did that. My bad.
