Everyone is way too easy to scream "child abuse" at the drop of a hat, so that's one reason why it might not be such a good idea. But supposing it were, I don't see how a nurse in a public school is any more socialist than there being a public school in the first place.
Public schools are another socialist idea. There were a whole bunch of socialists in the late 19th century/early 20th century that pushed for all sorts of regulation like limiting the work week, minimum wage, child labor laws etc. America is a mixed system of socialism and capitalism, though for some reason socialism has been made out to be some sort of boogy man. The last time America was purely capitalistic was the gilded age.

Not everything supported by socialists is a socialist idea.

Those most certainly are socialist ideas. They were proposed by socialists, and they are opposed to the premise of market capitalism. In Wealth of Nations, the essential treatise on capitalism Adam Smith specifically argued against things like a minimum wage, because he said it would distort the wage market (this is in book I). He did have areas the government should control, principally defense related, but pretty much everything I have mentioned would be seen as an encrochment on the private sector and market efficency.
I'm Hoodoovalley, and I AM a tree loving environmentalist liberal!
I LOVE trees too...... they keep me and my family nice and warm for 8 months out of the year. I keep the chain saw handy and nice & sharp always..... for when love at first sight happens with that special tree.
Liberal, in a liberal sense, does not necessarily mean liberal.
Alas, I am liberal-leaning and reserve the right to take a conservative stance on some issues if I believe that particular stance benefits the country as a whole - and not just one demographic at this particular point in time. Thus, lately, I've been a bigger fan of liberal politics, always trying to keep in mind that the extreme right-wing views commonly expressed in this forum are not representative of regular conservative viewpoints.

yes but , when you get older if you need your child to get an education and live in NY suburbs, its a good system bcs public schools there have qualified teachers...with a Master's degree or more, whereas in other states when your child goes to high school they get taught creationism, and are banned from reading books like "To Kill a Mockingbird" ....There has to be some mix, because not everyone can afford to put their kids in a good private school (25k or more) ....
education is important. Social responsibility is important.

Classical liberalism has nothing to do with statism that it is now.
