U.S. Election 2012: California Selected to Host National Convention for Socialist Party

By: Stewart A. Alexander

Selecting California to host the National Convention will benefit the California Chapter of the Socialist Party in many areas. The Socialist Party of California began reorganizing in mid 2009. The Socialist Party California Chapter has focused on building the membership statewide, networking and communications. Lynn Lomibao, the California Co-Chair notes, being selected to host the Socialist Party National Convention “will benefit ongoing efforts to build the party.”

Mimi Soltysik says, “This is an opportunity for Californians and working people to make their voices heard. The SP California Chapter views the convention as an opportunity to bring the concerns of Californians and working people to the forefront; concerns regarding rising college tuitions, concerns of gays and lesbians, concerns of the unemployed, concerns of the homeless, unaffordable housing, inflation, rising gasoline prices and to express how Obama’s policies have failed Californians and the nation. We want this National Convention to be an instrument for change.”

This candidate has gotten zero coverage in the U.S. He is running against Obama, under the Green Party. For you socialists out there, this guy is the real deal. You should be supporting him.

This is a great interview with a Communist Party USA rep.
"give me one example of a communist country that worked"

Norway isn't communist, but socialist and works. I'm not a socialist, but if socialists feel like they are not being represented. I guess they might as well make a go at it.

Norway is about the size of Maryland, with 5 million people compared to 300 million in the U.S..
Norway is changing. This woman is a women's rights, human rights, advocate. You should hear what she has to say, regarding the future of Norway, and why they are losing their freedoms. This is also probably why they had the recent shootings. Immigration will collapse the system, because of lack of integration/assimilation. Islam is the problem.

Are you a voluntary socialist or do you advocate force to achieve your goals?

I sure am glad I know that that Stewart man is a Socialist. I like his looks and might have been fooled into voting for him because he looks honest.

At least Stewart is right up front about it. Here's another one of Beck's on socialism.

Beck threw so much truth that very few here didn't hate him. BTW, he will be on from 5 - 7pm EST beginning next Monday at GBTV.com for those who don't know where they can see him again. You will have to use your computer to watch him but that will work, even for me.

They have wormed their way deeply into our fabric while many were sitting on their duffs talking about Communism being dead. I well remember the Glenn Beck interview with Sam Webb and they have wiggled in pretty deep.

I am glad they exist. What is wrong with someone having a socialist ideology? It is no more crazy than the extremely hard right anti-government stuff I read here daily. It will never fly in America, IMO, but if they come up with some good ideas, why not?

As a democrat, I sure don't want them to field any good candidates to undermine ours, but it's a free country, right?

People seem so terrified of socialism, but as one poster mentions there are a good number of countries far to the left of ours that manage to be prosperous, healthy, clean, and decent (all of Scandinavia, Canada, and Australia for starters). I cannot think of a single country further right of the USA that is a decent place to live. I think the Scandinavians are usually Social Democrat, so not sure if that is pure socialism though.
