I heard that even the Governor of Connecticut is upset that it's taking so long for so many towns in Connecticut to have their power restored.

There are a bunch of towns out in the country, too, which, have no city water, and are probably on well water, that cannot even leave their homes, can't get their power restored for maybe a week, or possibly longer, and there's gas stations closed, grocery stores closed, business etc.

It's tragic, given this is the week before Labor Day weekend.

Are the beaches in Connecticut, New York, or Rhode Island even open this week, or for Labor Day??

If you know anyone in these area, who are your friends/family, try check on them and make sure they're doing okay, they may not be...
If you can offer them a place to stay, kindly do that, if their power will not be restored for awhile, you'll be doing them a LARGE favor!

There is no constitutional right to electricity.

Get on TV, cry and whimper about the lack of help from the federal government. Seems to be the way things are done these days.

It might be because there are only so many people with the skills to fix the electric distribution system and all of them are exhausted by round the clock work since Sunday. This was a major and widespread disaster and fixing things just takes time.

HHHMMMM a 100 year storm just hit that part of the country. Maybe just maybe that is the cause. If people cant be prepared to ride out a month with no service then they need to spend less time watching reality TV and more time getting prepared for the next event. Oh by the way there is a Cat 3 Hurricane in the Atlantic right now that looks like it is tracking to the East coast.

Here's a lesson to learn from. These areas that flooded are likely to flood again.

Shades of katrina coming from the maddening crowd.Bascailly some of the problems maybe with local emrgency managment that was not preared for such a event. I know that much depends on agreements between power companies and that is part of the local emergnecy mnagement planning that means the difference between Katrina and other hurricanes. I do know that our local power company has already sent 80 electrical teams with equipmant to new jersey under agreemnt with their emergency planning. You do not just do this on a whim as those teams and others from around the country have to be housed and feed plus have the poles;transformers and other need things waiting for them. That requires a certain level of cleanup and reapair of roads before hand.I think people will see in year ahead that local emergency mangement is perhaps the most important as they see one communtiy recovering much faster than a neighbor community. That is what I saw in Rita;Hmeberto and Ike. I think like always people will gripe if they don't see their power cut on regardless of the progression of power repairs necessary.Politcal officals are always going to agree with the maddenig crowd to deflect any short coming they were responsible for.You have to feed the maddening crowd as always as politcian.

FWIW - the New Hampshire electric utility had to contract Canadian crews before the hurricane hit because all the American crews east of the Mississippi were already under contract to utilities from Georgia to Maine. It was not lack of planning but lack of people. In Vermont it is the inability to repair all the damaged roads and bridges. Fixing these things takes a lot of very skilled people working very carefully (electricity can KILL you if done wrong) for a long time.

The CT Gov sounds like a spoiled brat wanting instant gratification.
