I guess the government didn't indoctrinate me well einough during my school years and I still have original thoughts floating around in my head. Should I call the thought police and turn myself in or will my paranoia and homophobia in itself be enough to alert the authorities to my condition?

It's refuted very easily, because it's a bogus assertion. People who know that babies (usually) result from heterosexual intercourse are not automatically homophobes. Simple as that.

For one thing, people don't automatically and inextricably tie personal intimate relationships with baby-making ability. Most children will, at some point in their young age, express a desire to marry one of their parents. Are you telling me that the child is thinking about having children with their parent? Of course not. They understand that the personal bond comes from love. They equate marriage with love.

Because the dominant personal relationship in humans is heterosexual and because this is what children see every day from the moment they are born, many naturally find it odd when they discover that two people of the same sex can be partners. But when it's explained in terms of love, affection, and attraction, I've found that kids are ok with it. My kids certainly are. They understand the concept of fairness in how we treat people different from ourselves.

As for types of activity in the bedroom, it takes only a moment on pornsites to conclude what is one of the most popular activities among heterosexuals. And you can't make babies doing it.

I think the huge difference is people want to teach their OWN children, not your children or my children or strangers children their value system. For you to gloss over or perhaps not even recognize this says a lot about your own conditioning.

It's an excuse to clutch on to fear and bigotry, and avoid parental responsibility, and/or just plain stupidity.

First of all, thanks for the civil discourse in your post.

I think there is a large amount of misinformation when it comes to children's health, most of it from the government. The food pyramid is largely wrong in the fact that it promotes far too many carbohydrates for people and especially kids in general. We have processed sugars in everything we eat and so much of this is due to government regulations (see the other thread on the woman whose natural ice-cream is being regulated by the feds). People can say they are educated, but they are not. Recent studies conducted at the Univ of CT have shown that diets high in fat do not increase heart disease and in fact people on these diets lost weight simply by eliminating or reducing carbs. The government is certainly the one providing bad information here.

As far as kids and sex, how much of what kids see today on TV or in mainstream society revolves around sex? And if a parent or a group of parents were to step forward to say anything about this, they are considered prudes or censors or bigots? I don't think it is a leftist plot by any stretch but it has been shown that kids from stronger families are less likely to be promiscuous or having sex or even using drugs.

I will tell him not to act on his urges as it is improper behavior. The same thing I would tell him if he said he wanted to walk up to a girl and do something improper to her.
