And the intent is not to suppress a vote?
How do you defend this?

From:
The Maddow Blog - You can still vote for free in Wisconsin, if you ask

Under Wisconsin's new law to make voting harder, you have to present a valid photo ID at the polling place. One acceptable form comes from the Division of Motor Vehicles. The IDs normally cost $28, but you can get one for free -- just don't expect anyone at the DMV to tell you that.
The Madison Capital Times today posts a memo from a Wisconsin Department of Transportation executive directing employees not to offer the ID for free:
While you should certainly help customers who come in asking for a free ID to check the appropriate box, you should refrain from offering the free version to customers who do not ask for it.
Steve Krieser, the memo's author, previously worked as a Republican chief of staff in the state legislature. Mr. Krieser tells the Cap-Times that the DMV plans to post signs telling people how to ask for free IDs. "He says the signs are 'in the design phase' and could not give a date when they would be placed in DMV offices," the Cap-Times reports.
Last month, Governor Scott Walker's administration gave up on a plan to close some DMV locations after lawmakers complained that they were mostly in Democratic districts.

I'm just curious why when the law took effect I'm assuming the media reported the existance of the law. My question is, whey weren't there information advertised on the "free" ID option to ensure that every voter has the information and time required to obtain an ID to ensure that there will not be any issues of voter suppression?

If one can't prove who they are they shouldn't be allowed to vote. Why is this so difficult? Why does everything have to be free? Free to one means others taxes are paying for it. How does one even function in society without ID? I guess only lefties have this answer.

Nothing is FREE. Someone is paying for those "free" IDs.
If huge signs were posted how many would opt to pay for their ID ?
The state would probably lose with everyone and their brother opting for that FREE ID.

Thats not the issue. The issue is apparently there is an option for free ID's that the state put into place, so this was a Wisconsin State answer not a Liberal one. Why is this kept secret? Its not like taxes aren't paid for things that it shouldn't. Why should this be any different?

Then why I such a option in place, then try to hide it? Its better not to have such a plan in place, then there would be no issue....correct?

Twenty-fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They're trying to float a "master ID" here in FL, includes DL, voter registration, health insurance info and auto insurance.
No one has mentioned the "free"part.

I agree. If you cannot afford to cover as many free IDs as requested then don't to any.

We've all see situations like this. No discount unless you ask, etc.

In my opinion, this implementation amounts to a poll tax. That's my answer.

No one should be walking around without some form of ID. Honestly, I really don't see why the heck this is an issue. I'm not on the side with the Dem's on this one, however I do believe that since many states are now moving to enforce this, unfortunately there should be either a break in price.
