Tax cheats took in $24 billion in stimulus money, GAO finds | OregonLive.com

I thought Joe Biden was in charge of making sure all that stimulus money was well spent. Apparently not, so 0bama will ask for a few hundred billion more in stimulus, and I'm sure Biden will fail us again.

WASHINGTON -- Thousands of companies that cashed in on President Barack Obama's economic stimulus package owed the government millions in unpaid taxes, congressional investigators have found.

The Government Accountability Office, in a report being released today, said at least 3,700 government contractors and nonprofit organizations that received more than $24 billion from the stimulus effort owed $757 million in back taxes as of Sept. 30, 2009, the end of the budget year.

More waste and fraud from the 0bama team:

Last year, Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn announced the city had won a coveted $20 million federal grant to invest in weatherization.

It had heady goals: creating 2,000 living-wage jobs in Seattle and retrofitting 2,000 homes in poorer neighborhoods.

But more than a year later, Seattle's numbers are lackluster. As of last week, only three homes had been retrofitted and just 14 new jobs have emerged from the program. Many of the jobs are administrative, and not the entry-level pathways once dreamed of for low-income workers. Some people wonder if the original goals are now achievable.

$20 million freaking dollars we taxpayers will have to pay back. The next time 0bama talks about creating jobs with federal taxpayer dollars, tell him to back off and stop wasting our money.

The stimulus weatherization money in Texas could be the second verse to this tune. The feds just give out the money, the state does what it wants, and all of the places the HCAD grants dollars to do what they damn well please with it.. They make up rules as they go along.

Wow.

We can understand why "stimulus" is a dirty word to the democrats, can't we?

They OWN it - lock, stock and barrel.

The weatherization program was a complete disaster.

I'm sure we would all be drunk by the end of his speech tonight, if we took a drink every time 0bama said "geen jobs" or "clean energy".

If you take a drink each time he says "I" you will likely pass out or end up in the hospital with alcohol poisoning.

They didn't steal stimulus money, they committed tax evasion or fraud. You either knew that and tried to spin it or you have no idea what you are talking about.
