The state and local authorities can help out. If the guard is needed then call em in to help in the recovery. Red Cross seems pretty good at helping folks out along with many other charities. Of course some of them believe in God so libs think there's something wrong with em. Handing out debit cards and building folks new homes is not the job of the government.

Yeah you lefties take the cake on spending others money and then always come back wanting more.

Everyone was doing so dang well in the nineties and he left a big ole bunch of money for the Repubs to squander when he left. Hmmmmm.

No thanks. The price being asked is rather high. When one deals with government, the full and true price often doesn't just extend to 'mere' dollars and cents. Deals with the devil are rarely as good as they seem.

What government is offering is so very often very much like a cell phone contract from hell, being enforced seemingly in perpetuity. Only that which government is so often trying to peddle is even more nefarious than a cell phone contract from hell, and even more astoundingly, it is actually worse than a proverbial deal with the devil. It's a classic a fortiori example.

At least a proverbial deal with the devil, or a cell phone contract from hell, does not bind my progeny and everyone else in the country for unspecified generations extending theoretically out to perpetuity, as the deal with the devil and the cell phone contract from hell generally only binds me (as a single person), the signatory. In contrast, the deal with government so often binds not just me, but future generations into this deal from hell. Again, thanks, but no thanks. It's a simple courtesy I extend based on human decency for the benefit of future generations. I'd rather not have future generations be bound by this deal from hell that they never asked for, all because some huckster dangled a few cookies in front of me and then I signed a deal enslaving future generations just because I got a cookie out of it.

No thanks. Not interested in making such a stupid decision, no matter which two bit huckster is offering me this "amazing deal" for his "handy, dandy, product or service." Doesn't matter if its a government huckster, or a private market huckster.... if I don't like the deal, I'd rather just not get involved.

Of course, that doesn't stop the two bit hucksters from having their telemarketers out their in full force, shilling their product incessantly in much the same way you are trying to sell it. Sell away, you have the free speech liberty to do so. Don't care. I'll tell you the same thing I tell the two bit huckster who wants to lock me into a cell phone contract from hell for the duration of my lifetime... which is F- off. *slams door in face of annoying salesman*

Buy the product if you so please. I have no desire in the least to stop you. Unfortunately, the courtesy so often does not extent both ways.

Until those two things happen (or the President can declare an area a disaster area without a State of Emergency) FEMA can not respond.
In Texas they are begging for FEMA go come in......but no Perry hasn't declared it a State of Emergency yet.

Goodness, that was a HUGE LONG analogy. Interesting read without saying a dang thing!

Yeah especially if you lived in the zip code where the northridge quake I believe it was hit. Free checks for all.

so you're ok with the state and their bumbling ways trying to help but not the feds. ever here the words to the who song? meet the new boss, same as the old boss get of of the wars and we have plenty of money to rebuild areas that have been destroyed by natural disasters. heck when we go to war with a country we build into the budget money to rebuild their country we should surely be able to do it for our own people who lost everything through no fault of their own

The concluding comment was easy enough to understand: Feel free to buy the product if you so desire. I have no interest in stopping you. Extend me the same courtesy I am so generously affording you by not interfering in your liberty to seek out this kind of product.

The states and guard should help. Not in monetary ways or rebuilding their homes. It appears you have a different idea of how the government should operate than I. It's quite a simple thing to yell "get out of wars" especially when you have no idea why they're being fought. That's for a different thread though.
