For those rabid Repubs who keep bellyaching over the lack of funds for them, including Lt Gov Dewhurst, Pres Obama has declared Bastrop Cty a disaster area that is eligible for federal aid.
I feel for the familes of Bastrop and I'm glad they are going to get federal help. This is not the first time we have needed help in regards to this summers fires which have devistated much of Texas. It is long past due.

Every single FIRE related request, all 25 of them, were approved by FEMA for 2011 prior to the Bastrop fires. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

This is the FIRST request for major disaster area relief that FEMA has provided. They are not the same things. Nothing was past due, it's all been given when reasonable requests were asked.
