Obama's proposal to raise taxes on energy companies will directly impact the price at the pump. And this price increase will disproportionately impact poor and middle class Americans.... many who cannot afford higher gasoline prices.
Thanks Mr President for raising our cost of living again.
What an idiot, how does he think the economy will improve by raising taxes on a resource that will effect every industry that relies on it, and consumers at the gas pump? It's only going to push the economy further into ruins.
I can't wait until November 2012 and see him get kicked out of the Whitehouse before he gets a chance to raise taxes on anything.

You must be mistaken. He promised, repeatedly, that he wouldn't raise taxes on anyone making under $250,000.
That must mean that no one that makes less than $250k buys fuel or owns stock in an energy company (can you say 401k?). Whoda thunk it?
Obama released the oil reserves to lower the gas prices, but big oil cut off the spigots to keep the prices sky high to counter. OPEC controls oil prices, not the white house. Big oil and the republicans want gas at only one place, HIGH.
Yes, but we dont want prices so high that we cant profit. We want the difference between crude and product prices to be high.
Keep raising prices Barry, we'll pass the buck downstream
taxes are the way that the government pays its bills. termination of entitlement programs inc DOD, social security, welfare & medical---- is how they get kicked out of office.
the polls show americans would accept take hikes over termination of social security and medicare.

I never realized the President held so much power! .
I have decided that the fact that large cities were the most in favor of him that more of those people don't drive cars so they don't give a damn about the rest of us. I only drive 70 miles to get to my dentist and a Walmart in the same town. I drive 140 miles, one way, to get to my periodontist so wonder if some of those city folks would like to line up on the highway to carry me. Even riding a horse 140 miles would take days.

So you don't understand that raising the taxes on gasoline has to be done by government and them only. OPEC has nothing to do with our taxation. Republicans have heard him talk about raising taxes and so they have to be against his raising of gasoline taxes. You really don't understand any of this, do you?

The oil companies possess the thumb screws and they have a handy scapegoat to rake in more profits.
