Rather than a snippy remark as would be made by a teenager, why do you not articulate a proper response to my comment if you disagree or is that too much mental work for you?

Anyone approaching a so armed individual would need to take extreme caution. It is a very quick motion to be able to draw ones firearm if using a holster without a flap. Drawing ones weapon is the best manner to ensure suvivability if it escalates to a shooting situation as the first discharge would be the most accurate one and diminish the risk of return fire. I would not want to take check identification on someone(meaning take my eyes off that person) who had the ability to draw on me unless they were positioned in such a manner so as to be unable to quickly draw their weapon.

I do not know what the reference to "chains" is in the article.

His, Jeff Haman's, actions may not have caused the response from the police in a different type of America but let us face it we have too many violence prone people to allow actions like his to proceed without intervention.
well yeah when someone is walking in your street with a gun in their hand I assume most people would not approach the person out in the open and leave yourself fully exposed and vulnerable to see how their day is going.

you escalate the situation by going to confront them and going out in the open is a not a smart Idea

Just some attention craving idiot , this shouldn't even be newsworthy. get real, your gonna open carry a sidearm out in public and not expect some heat from the cops. This right wing lug nut has been watching to many Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns......probably has life size poster of Ted Nugent on his bedroom ceiling.

This guy is an idiot for thinking people weren't going to report him to police in this day and age.

In a residential area, this clown looking like he does openly carrying a gun.

I am 100% pro gun but this was nothing more then a publicity stunt by this guy.

And who's to say he didn't pull this stunt *knowing* what the public and police response's would be with the end goal being a lawsuit and some money in his pocket?

This is why ignorance breeds fear!

If I am openly carrying a holstered pistol and just strolling down the street...
I have a gun in my hand and I'm in a hurry....
I have a gun in my waistband under my shirt tail I'm strolling down the street... (You don't know I am armed)
I have a gun in my waistband under my shirt tail I'm running down the street... (You don't know I am armed)

Of those gun carriers, who is the least dangerous?

^^You would be stopped if you were openly carrying in a residential/urban area. That is the norm for current society.

The other points are not part of this thread. Start another one if you wish to push an agenda and perhaps someone may respond.

No ignorance or fear on my part at all. Poor analysis or extensive presumption on your part.

Another waste of CD-POC

I agree, these open carry idiots actually want this kind of crap to happen. The only reason to open carry in a state that allows for concealed carry is to cause trouble.

Well, apparently Dallas Police has started a new practice in the direction of police state. No longer do they need a reason for anything more than just having a gut feel to stop you, to check your papers and your car.

"Officers, he said, are duty bound and can't assume someone openly carrying a gun is following the law."

Ah but they DO assume he is not following the law. There lies your problem. The cops say why didn't you call and say your were gonna walk around with your gun in your holster?? LOL. It's friggen Detroit too. I'd be packin heat in that city.

You wouldn't happen to be one of them anti-freedom cops, "sgt buzzcut"?

The cops are going to lose a civil rights lawsuit for this. They deserve prison though.
