Wow. If this is true, then I might have to have some grudging respect for Republicans again. After dealing with the tea party, I don't think I can ever complain about the regular GOP quite as much again. I'd love to have some sane Republicans back at the helm of their party.

Of course, you guys never want to address why every single poll has been showing waning tea party support. You just shout into the windstorm of public opinion, saying you are still on the rise, that the tea party will sweep America next year, despite all evidence to the contrary. Silly tea partiers.
He's not really a conservative either, but he will beat obama.
The Tea Party will rally behind Romney, just as hillary's people supported obama.
But how will it benefit the tea party if one of you guys is not at the GOP helm? You might as well form your own party, which you won't do--at least this year.
