Why should anyone care what Americans think, or why should anyone care what Americans who hold an opinion contrary to yours think?
It has nothing to do with MY opinion. I just find it disingenuous that people try to justify an action based on the opinion of a majority that really doesn't have qualifications to make a decision on such a topic. It is misleading.
I'm not cheating the system, I follow the code set forth by your Democratic members of Congress. Whats the matter, you dont like people who follow the rules and use them to our advantage? Then why do you keep asking for special exemptions for people?
I am a HUGE fan of the current tax system, but I'd support a system that made it cheaper for me to pay "my fair share" rather than going through the lengths that I go through to avoid paying. For example, I sold a hotel on Friday and rather than pay the capital gains tax rate, I got a down payment, and then amortized the income stream over the next 10 years, with a sales price at the end to be lower than I paid. Whalaa. ZERO TAXES owed. Why did I go through great lenghts, lets see.. Hundreds of thousands owed in taxes, vs, amortized payment schedule. Guess what one I chose? Wat to increase revenues, then give me an advantage to pay "my fair share" rather than sitting here demanding more and more from people like me. The more you demand, the less you'll get and you'll still be here moaning and groaning for more taxes while scratching your head trying to figure out why revenues dropped with every increase
Someone should pass this to Grover Norquist. Most Americans seem to be disagreeing with his pledge. Republicans seem to be on the wrong side of this issue.
This is outrageously funny — or is it ridiculously funny? The truth is, that the only ones that want to see a tax increase are those who don't pay any taxes. If this happens, of course, everything would cost more, and the government would spend more pork on pet projects that would assure the idiot in the White House right now would get re-elected.

People want higher taxes because it makes economic sense as far as dealing with the deficit not because they just want to tax the wealthy.
Of course it does. How about demanding less from the government to deal with the deficits instead?
