I don't understand why this story is rarely told .
In 1987, Don Laughlin funded and built the Laughlin Bridge at a cost of $3.5 million of his money. He donated the bridge to the states of Nevada and Arizona. The bridge carries 2,000 vehicles daily.
Today there are nine hotel/casinos and one motel in Laughlin providing over 10,000 rooms, 94,000 square feet of meeting space, 60 restaurants, two museums, a 34-lane bowling center and a variety of boutiques, spas and salons. More than 14,000 casino workers now cross the Colorado by shuttle boat or the Laughlin Bridge each day.
The city by the river now attracts nearly 3 million visitors annually who visit Laughlin to gamble, enjoy water sports on the Colorado and attend many high-profile special events hosted by the community . I hope one day to shake his hand and spend my money in his casino . Laughlin History - History of Laughlin, Nevada
Bullhead City and the neighboring communities of Laughlin, Nevada, Fort Mojave, Mohave Valley, Arizona and Needles, California, make up what is referred to as the this is known as the tri tate area This is aneconomically interdependent group of communities, all geographically connected within a ten mile (16 km) radius. The population of the Tri-State Area, including Bullhead City, is about 75,000. The catchment area (human geography) of Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport, according to its own statistics, includes 110,000 residents. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullhead_City,_Arizona
He built the bridge to increase traffic to his casinos. Then he got AZ and NV to foot the bill for maintaining it while he makes millions off suckers who waste their life savings there. He's obviously a brilliant capitalist, but how does that make him a great American? Couldn't the same be said for Bugsy Siegel who built Las Vegas?

A.) I bet his taxes cover the maintenance of the bridge .
B.) I wish every American could be as great as Laughlin , not spending tax dollars but generating them . Wow look at all the jobs and tax-PAYERS around him .
C.)New Jersey resident sues the Port Authority over toll hikes... Higher toll rates at bridge and tunnel crossings took effect Sunday with commuters now paying$12 to cross the Hudson River, a 50% increase from the previous week.
You don't want to be in Laughlin in the summer when it's 120.
Just trust me on this one.
126
I love 110 that's a perfect daytime temperature. Below 80 is uncomfortable . Yes 120-126 is Death Valley hot but I have a swamp cooler and central air , YeeHa !
