Under the Full Faith & Credit Clause of the US Constitution Congress has determined that to be valid in every other state it must be a certified birth certificate that has a registrar's raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrar's signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office, which must be within 1 year of your birth.

I have several co-workers here on Work Visas (legal to work here, pay taxes, have social security numbers, etc) they've all had children. By US law, their children are citizens by birth. They do not have to naturalize.
There are only two types of citizens. Citizen by birth (natural born) or through naturalization (those who were not born in the US, or had any US Citizen parent)
