Why do (most) minorities (gays, blacks, latinos, etc) keep demanding respect and acceptance??? Isn't that something that is earned??
My dear old pappy used to say that so-and-so ("so-and-so" isn't the person's real name, by the way) hasn't earned the right to be respected. I'm now older than my father was when he made that statement and I'm yet to earn the right to be respected. I can't juggle. I'm no good at ventriloquism. And I'm only average as a magician. On the other hand, I haven't done anything to warrant disrespect either (well, nothing anyone knows about, anyway). So no, a person doesn't have to earn respect. But to be honest, I am a little leery of dwarves.
Now I can only hope I've shown the respect to this thread that it warrants. I think I have.

So if you haven't tried to get food stamps how would you know how difficult it is for someone like you to get food stamps???
Evidenced by anyone yelling that I ought to respect them probably hasn't done anything to deserve it...or I would.
I'm not picking on anyone or any group but it's a universal fact. I'm generally respective so if someone insists that I need to respect them or, better still, that I've DISREPECTED them, they are most likely quite ignorant about the idea of respect. The words they really want are probably "ignore" or "accept" or "tolorate", which I usually do willilngly
