Man charged in banana tossing incident
Ontario police have charged a man for throwing a banana on the ice toward Philadelphia Flyers player Wayne Simmonds during an NHL preseason game.

Police say Chris Moorhouse, 26, of London, Ontario, has been served a summons for engaging in a prohibited activity under the provincial trespassing act. If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $2,000.

The Crown attourney reasoned the bannana tossing did not pass the reasonable tests of being a personal assault or hate crime as it was thrown towards the ice in a manner that did not interrupt either the player or the action on the ice at the time. Proving intent would be almost impossible given the rather innocuous use of a bannana.

Any 'hate crime or racial charge" would also need evidence to suggest there would be no reasonable doubt the fan intended the bannana to be a supporting of hatred or racial statement.

And the Democrats of "yesteryear" weren't anything like the Democrats of today - weren't even liberals, according to most people on here.

Obviously there are racists on both sides, but in my experiences it seems to come more heavily from the right... in fact, I'm surprised that even a (non-racist) conservative doesn't notice & acknowledge that. Or do the Swastika-tattooed Confederate flag-waving folks generally vote Democrat? If so, that's news to me!

I can't comment on the present day KKK because they don't seem to exist any longer.
Really? You actually believe that?? As a Howard Stern fan & listener, I'm unfortunately aware that they're still alive and well... since one of their Grand Pooh-Bas, Daniel Carver, is a frequent caller. Apparently they still have rallies and regular get-togethers, although he often asserts that burning crosses (which they no longer do) is so 1950s. Oh yeah, and he said once that you couldn't pay him enough to vote Dem, particularly for Obama the - ummmmm - can't say the words he used to describe him.

P.S. If you don't believe me about the KKK, just do a search... they even have a website, for goodness sakes.

Conservatives look at an incident like this, and because it happened in an area known for being liberal, try to attribute this to liberal values. The more enlightened people from the Left know better.

Can't take those bigoted Conservatives anywhere.

Chris Moorhouse Charged In Banana Toss Toward Wayne Simmonds

Here's an article on the person who threw the bannana. It doesn't say anything about his political persuasion. Do you have a link that describes his political views?

Is Wayne Simmonds also a "bigoted Conservative" as you put it, for calling Sean Avery a gay slur?

Did the OP (and many who followed) have any evidence to support his being a liberal? Don't think so, and I believe that's the point A_Lexus was trying to make... which clearly went over your head.
