Several lorryloads of flowers and bulbs from the Netherlands are being held at the Romanian border. The Romanian authorities say they fear the blooms, seeds and bulbs are contaminated with dangerous bacteria.
Who do the Dutch think they are fooling? Their objections aren't really about corruption but hordes of Romanian Gypsies moving in.
Uh, yeah. Why would they want hordes of Gypsies moving to their country? I used to live in Germany and I had to deal with the Gypsies. Anyone that has had run in with the Gypsies know that they bring trouble.

Is not this their real reason. They want to mantain the supremacy of Rotterdam as Europe's main commercial port. They fear (and are right) that Constanța will take much of the Rotterdam's traffic in future, as is closer the Middle East and other areas od commercial interest for European producers of goods.
Actually, the Dutch want to buy the port Constanța as condition of giving Romania access in Schengen.
Yes they are. And the Dutch are right to try to keep them out.
France and Belgium are in the Schengen Area, and there are gypsies there, as well as other places. The Czech Republic and Slovakia are part of the Schengen Area too. Alot of gypsies in those two nations as well. If the idea is to keep gypsies away, it isn't going to work.

Ignorant as always. No, the objections aren't about an ethnic minority who make up ~2.5% of Romania's population (https://www.cia.gov/library/publicat...k/geos/ro.html) and instead the complaint is that Romania is the poorest country in the EU so allowing them into the Schengen area would mean several million regular Romanians moving west at a time when unemployment is already high in the west.
