Ah, even a bit closer to home... in fact home itself.
"A record 1.6 million barrels a day in U.S. refined petroleum products were exported during the first four months of this year, up 33 percent from 1.2 million barrels a day over the same period in 2007. Shipments this February topped 1.8 million barrels a day for the first time during any month, according to final numbers from the Energy Department."
So much for the canard "Drill Now, Drill Here" because as I have pointed out more times that I care to recount, oil is bought and sold on a global basis which also controls both supply and demand and subsequently price. So for those who would continue to unwittingly shill for oil companies... be careful what you wish for.
they already approved the enbridge pipeline through B.C. to bring in China's super oil tankers it is a massive pipeline but Canada will be in control of the tap. Canada and the U.S. in sense control China with the oil sands and if the keystone XL goes through and when the Enbridge pipeline is finished we will over take the most of the ME oil production .
The U.S. has the military and Canada has the oil and together we rule with both hard and soft power. China needs our resources plus Canada is really investing in it's navy and airforce to be a middle power in the 21st century.

The faux muscle flexing, I would guess. China ain't resting its laurels on military might as America has done since WWII. It is making it secondary (that it has been doing since late 1950s).
