PS. The earth is round.
It shows their true agenda. Most of them clearly didn't read the original article or watch the video. They aren't interested in an intelligent discussion on transgender children and the use of puberty blocking treatment until 16 to give the children more time to mature emotionally before making more informed decisions about their lives. They seem to just want any excuse to go on an hysterical, ignorant, prejudiced, vile hate spree.

I think you are confusing 'science' with the Holy Roman Church who persecuted people who didn't tow the line with their ignorant doctrines.

10, 20, 30 years ago we knew a lot about intersexed and transgender people. Now we know a lot more. Well, at least people who bother to actually educate themselves about it do.

In a 1000 years or so, people studying history will be able to read threads like and be astounded and sickened by the ignorance, prejudice and hatred.

In fact, in 20 or 30 years time, your grandchildren may still be able to read this thread and will probably be disgusted by your views.

Re-post: I guess it's the concept of a "gender identity" I don't understand. What does it mean to "feel" male or female, if not something tied and influenced by social interaction? And how does one know that's what they're feeling if they've never felt the other way? I've never "felt" like a man or a woman outside of social experiences and what I take from them. I'm just me. I happen to have a penis, so I'm a male. Forget transgenders; can anyone here relate to me? Lol.

And again, I don't see how a man can say "I don't feel like a man; I feel like a woman" unless they have an understanding of what it means to feel both. Maybe it's all the same feeling, none of us can say for sure.

Well, we have to live in the same world they do; I don't see how it could not be our business, especially when total acceptance of the idea begins to affect children.

Vic 2.0, If you really want to understand it better, you could read the story from the 1960's of David Reimer that I gave you a link to earlier.
David Reimer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/reimer/

David Reimer was born a 'normal' boy who had his penis accidently burned off during circumcision as an 8mth old baby. His parents and a 'specialist' made the decision to remove his testicles at 22 mths old and raise him as a girl. The theories in the 60's were that it was more 'social experiences' or 'nurture', that defined how we identified as male and female, so they thought he would think he was a girl if that was the way he looked and was raised. They renamed him Brenda. They never told him he was born a boy, they dressed him as a girl, gave him female hormones when he hit puberty so he developed breasts, yet he still knew he was a boy. By the age of 13, David was experiencing suicidal depression and threatened to kill himself.

His 'brain' knew he was a boy, not his absent penis. He wasn't transgender, he was born a 'normal' boy, so it completely screwed him up being raised as a girl when he knew he was a boy - even though his body looked like a girl's.

Think what that would have been like if it had happened to you. Can you relate to what that might have been like?

Now reflect on what it might like for a child who was born transgender to be forced to live their life as a gender their brain tells them they aren't even though their body has all the external attributes of that gender.

This story might help you understand that 'social experiences' and how a child is raised is only a part of 'gender identity'. Hopefully it might give you some insight into what it might be like for transgender children- especially when they go through puberty. BTW, Gender identity is also different from 'gender roles'.

Luckily, we know and understand a LOT more about gender identity, transgenderism and intersexism in the 21st century than they did in the 1960s. Sadly for people like David Reimer in the 1960s, they didn't yet have that knowledge and theories were less evidence-based and more conjectural, but it was cases like David's that led to the far better evidence-based understanding that we have now.

A child of this age is far to young to be calling these kinds of shots, and delaying the normal onset of puberty seems like it probably has lots of unknowns.
And yet another poster who didn't read the article and doesn't know anything about the story or transgenderism, or the treatment discussed in the article.

I'm sure the treatment of "delaying the normal onset of puberty seems like it probably has lots of unknowns" to you. Perhaps it wouldn't if you had read the story or took a little time to look up the treatment which has been used successfully for about 20 years in the US and even longer in Europe.

Seriously, what excuse do any of you have for such ignorance and posting vile nasty comments when you have the internet at your fingertips?

Here's the OP's link again:

And here, this took me all of about 20 seconds to look up. There is a LOT of information available on this:

Key to Successful Treatment of Transgender Patients May Involve Delay of Puberty -- BOSTON, April 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --

So I take it from your non-response that you actually do not have anything scientific or academically sound to base your opinions on?

Should I get you a new shovel? The one you're using to pull the bases of so many of your opinions out of your @ss is probably close to the end of its useful life.

"Unisex"? Seriously?

"I hate to say it", but.... a wealth of information is only a few clicks away- why do you choose to remain uninformed?

It is not technically lunacy, but it is clearly child abuse. This boy may have yet to even hit puberty, let alone have a grasp on gender identity and will have a wave of hormones and changes coming down the pike the next 5-10 years which he has yet to be introduced to.

'Parents' of this belief system, promoting body mutilation because they convincing this kid to be like their mothers is a disgusting perversion of a child's malleable mind at this age.

If we are using the laws on the books, this kid should be yanked immediately into the control of the state and the lesbians should be barred from ever being able to adopt/artificially inseminate again and potentially jailed.

Playing Frankenstein with children is some of the most heinous acts I can think of. Shame on society for even having this contemplated.

All major and mainstream psychologists agree with the findings cited. Perhaps you can find peer-reviewed, legitimate sources and studies NOT funded by an anti-gay coalition of dummies to refute the findings?

Until then, I suggest sitting down and S-T-F-U.
Even the one study recently funded by "an anti-gay coalition of dummies" in time for the last election couldn't refute those findings... as much as they tried to set it up and weight it to do exactly that.

That's interfering with the natural course of events right there.

And then you go on and on in other posts how "experts" find this all OK????...And there are so many transgender children???..I've been around a long time....I never knew any...

This is insane!!!...

And why should we be concerned???...It's a young child that this biased couple have control over.

What if an 8 year old was suicidal?...Would you think it's OK to buy them a nice rope for their birthday?

The first thing that should have been done is to remove the child from the home for a while...to see if the adopting parents were having an influence on all of this.

That's fair isn't it?
And here we go with yet another poster who hasn't read the article or bothered to take 5 minutes to find out about the treatment, yet think they have an 'expert' opinion worth offering. And you call the parents 'biased'?

It's an epidemic in this thread.
