How sad is that?
In reality, it is only a partial victory for the USA. A total victory would have been capturing this turd, slinging him in some CIA interrogation cell and strapping him to a waterboard until he gave us all the intel he had to give. But since Obama merely coddles terrorists we are better off with him dead rather than living off the taxpayer dime at Gitmo and posing as the poster child for the ACLU.

Once again someone is doing a bang up job of hunting these suckers down. Just like the border where enforcement has more than doubled along with deportations.

Maybe not since he was killed by a liberal, muslim, terrorist, socialist, communist, racist, war-mongering, brown shirt, dictator, facist president. The only person who has voiced his displeasure about this is Ron Paul (R).

It's a liberal vs. conservative thing on CityData, because our usual gang of cornpone posters have way to much time on their hands and have to meet their required lib-bashing post quota for the day.

In the real world, most people would see this as a good thing for the most part, except for the further edges of the political spectrum.

So now the doublespeak for "blowing to smithereens" is "coddling?"

I see it as exactly the opposite. We on C-D are more informed than the average American. To everyone else, it will be another Apathethic Cheer For America without thinking of the precedent and consequence it bequeaths.

It must be very difficult for you to step out of your binary manner of thought to comprehend that someone might both support the killing of known terrorists and the extension of an olive branch to non-terrorist muslims at the same time. Such nuances are often incomprehensible to extremists.

Some did decry Bush for doing the same (only not as effectively, LOL), but neither I nor the majority of liberals were among them.

What your post is really about is frustration - Obama scores another victory on the war on terror before the upcoming election, and that worries you.

It also shows that Obama, unlike Bush, knows how to fight this war the right way, by taking out those responsible instead of the wasteful, tragic and counterproductive manner in which Bush conducted it.

You should be worried.
Well-said and my position as well.
I've no issue with direct targeting of those we know to be conspirators against and/or murderers of American citizens. This is who we are at war with, is it not?
Had this traitor been killed on an actual battlefield, no one would have batted an eye.
As for the comparisons to the Bush era, I had no issue with the arrest and detainment of that other American traitor nor would I have had any issue with his execution if it could be proven beyond reasonable doubt that he contributed in any way to the deaths of American citzens, however, and here again is where some may have trouble understanding nuance, I would not then, nor would I now, have ever condoned torturing either of them because we, as civilized humans do not succumb to our baser nature.
I know some may not see the distinction, but, there in a nutshell is why some of us disapproved then and don't now.

I respect any man who is a True Believer in his cause and thus devotes and sacrifices his entire life to it--no matter how deluded that belief may be. Especially when said man was born into riches and could have led a luxurious and carefree life.
If this country has more men like that we'd be better off. Most Americans are not even committed enough to boycott a, say, brand of clothing that woefully mistreats its workers, as long as that product is cheaper than another.
