And start using a CREDIT UNION. If you are still pissed about bailing out the banks, then use a credit union. If you are pissed about bank fees, use a credit union. If you want to kick the banks and politicians where it hurts, use a credit union.

It's a myth btw that credit unions are inconvenient. They've gotten a lot better with the rise of the internet over the past 10 to 15 years.

Or use your mattress. Yeah all this whining is getting ridiculous. You don't want to pay the interest on a credit card.........don't use it. You don't want to pay fee's on your debit card..........don't use it. Last I checked cash is still allowed for all transactions. Same common sense rule applies here. Sadly many lost common sense a while ago it seems.

For once I agree with you. I use cash for most everything under $50 and a debit card for the rest. I even pay cash, well a check, for the used cars I own.

I should come to your town, smash half the stores, and tell you to shut up since you still have the other half of the stores to shop at.

What do you mean by "smashing half the stores" anyway. What is the analogy? How is cutting debit card fees equilivant to your claim?

The big banks can cut their fees to match their competitors. That is what competition is all about. That may lessen their profits but profit was never certain anyway.

FWIW - "Smashing half the stores" is what Wall-Mark does every time it infests a community.

My credit union is based in Plano Texas and only has two branches in the state of Virginia and both are 20 miles from my home. I am able to do all my banking online. I am not bothered by this at all.

That smashing is the idea when one giant wants to take over a major competitor. Take AT&T and T-Mobile for example. Do you support AT&T's whims on the subject? Rick Perry does... AT&T is asking him to (with "financial support", of course). What do you prefer? AT&T taking over, or government preventing the take over?

i guess it depends. i signed up with a local credit union about a year ago, and it has been inconvenient. the online banking sucks. they also don't offer competitive 30-year fixed mortgages.

some of their other products are great, though.

Thats odd because many of us conservatives said the exxact same thing, but that didnt stop liberals from pushing forward a financial reform bill anyways.
