I pulled out of banks.

They just did not pay any interest and I will not let them run on my dime for free.

I do have by law have to have a business account.

I feel the same way about credit unions.

How long do you suppose we have until all these nice, friendly credit unions become the new banks?

As far as I understand they are regulated in a way that requires them to be run as non-profits, so probably never.

It's interesting how all of these right wingers run to "not for profit, cooperative" institutions based on fairness, community governance, and a distributed ownership model when THEIR money or conveniences is at stake.... Yet politically, they vote for competitiveness, exclusivity and a lack of regulation that robs the middle class of the very values espoused by Credit Unions...

The word Union is in there for a reason...

Hypocrites. Again.

I believe you misunderstand the situation. I might be considered one of those "right wingers" you despise...although I consider myself a libertarian.

I am leaving the banks because our ridiculous government is in bed with the financial companies and therefore you have nothing that even remotely resembles even a semi-free market environment. The banks and the government are there solely to prop each other up...the fact that they happen to also provide financial services at this point seems to only be a legacy issue to them.

I have belonged to a credit union for more than 20 years. Free checking does mean free checking there.

It's interesting how you can't tell the difference between voluntary and forced cooperation.
