And next comes the anti-China propaganda.

To be fair it would seem that the US volunteered to place itself in a vulnerable position by passing NAFTA and other legislation which started sending our manufacturing base our of our own country.

When one is weak and indebted to the country making threats one is not negotiating from a position of strength.

Our spending and debt is a threat to our national security.

China is facing a bubble. They and Brazil have been threatening a trade war for weeks. Europe closed its doors to more trade and China told them in return no "bailout".

Likely another "cold war" is brewing.

I hate to be the one to tell you this MO but NAFTA has nothing to do with China. If you care to look at the stats, the manufacturing sector of the US economy has made some good gains in the last couple of years. Some of that though is because of the stimulus and the need for heavy construction equipment. By a long shot the jobs that leave the USA and go to other countries are NOT going to NAFTA countries. Here in Canada we are seeing a few companies close the doors and going to the freaking USA.

NAFTA opened the doors for the US corporations to take their manufacturing elsewhere. It was the first of many unequal trade agreements made by the USA in the name of crony capitalism. As you have so aptly pointed out there is a domino effect.

Yes, we are in a global economy and yes I understand companies like Catapillar and others manufacturing closer to where their demand base is located. However, the USA is no longer manufacturing those things demanded in the USA, not even the processing of our raw materials like lumber and steel or the electronics which guide our military technology. Instead we service the poor, the elderly, and provide medical services. These practices alone do not bring income to our country. We need to bring back a significant proportion of our manufacturing, IMO, YMMV.

Default M&Ms in Vancouver

In Vancouver a bag of M&Ms, not the smallest bag and not the biggest, cost 8$ Canadian. Here the family sized bag is 3$. Canada is charging 10.00$ US for that smaller bag that might go for a dollar and change here.

What is going on in Canada?

Hina is screwing us around with also
Plus, who needs a family sized bag of M&M's? when there are better, healthier food choices out there

I would say China is very Un-Predictable from what I see they are doing up here in Canada is they are buying up all the oil and resources that would noamlly go south to the US in effect they are kicking US/EU ie. (the west) while were down and yes we are already in a trade war as we speak that Balance of power has shifted to the east and the west is in very deep trouble...Either we (the west) work together and get our fical houses in order or we are doomed to fall to the east sooner rather than later...

They (China) reallly want to become the number 1 global economic superpower in the 21st century... and this is their chance... Cause we dropped the ball and screwed up and are on the brink of collpase...We can't blame China for taking advantage really... cause heck we would do the same thing if it were them and not us.

What is it that makes so many many Americans so paranoid? It's just incredible. Either people just can not remember the past or they just ignore it. There have been many times in American history where things were a exponentially worse than they are today but I really don't think there has been a time in America history where there were so many people running around crying, "The sky is falling, the sky is falling". I really think a lot of it is based on the fact of historical denial. The USA has had huge problems and has got through them but Americans like to look at the past through rose coloured glasses. "Oh, the good old days". "Things were so much better back then" and lots more of these same delusions.
The problems in the USA are made in the USA and can only be solved in the USA. It used to be the USSR you were so paranoid of now it's China. It's just so stupid. Maybe in ten years China will have a counter revolution and the entire country will disolve. No one knows the future and the only hope for our futures is what we do with and in our own countries.

Who is running the USA? Not exactly problem solvers. Bunch of idiots and communists. There is your problem and why many are so worried. Too bad they don't worry when they vote. All they remember is what lies the media trashes certain candidates with a few weeks before an election.

I think "United we stand, divided we fall" is true in theses times...The more Divided people become the worse things are going to get..Tthe thing that happend in the the depression era in the 30's is people banded together and got through the tough times together..

It's time for both sides to put poiltics aside and come together as one country United and figure out how to tackle this economic problems and Issues...no matter what both sides will have to sacrafice or give up something to get through these time and working togher and being on the same page is pretty much the only way to get through this...No more kicking the proverbial can down the road...It's is time to get up off our butts and fix the problems we face togther... like we used too during the Cold War/Space Race era.....
