Just this past week I had a fellow stop by and wanting to paint my house and/or barn. He is not the first but unfortunately, these guys want too much for their labor.

In my State that would apply mostly to Union Electricians.

I hope you're joking. No reason to be so ignorant these days on any subject.

There was no unemployment, food stamps, what we now know as welfare in the 1930s.

There was nothing in place to assist those in need. The only thing they had was something called Home Relief.

Home Relief would pay your electric bill. They would also come to your house unannounced and do inspections.

For example if you had a radio playing they would take the radio. You shouldn't be using a radio since we're paying your electric bill.

Educate yourself a little. Maybe try talking to seniors(some are still around) who lived through the GD as children.

I guess the film footage of breadlines and the Dust Bowl were filmed in Hollywood.

Your tax dollars pay for things like the BLS Job Projections. Why don't you read them?

In 2007, BLS projected that that between 2008 and 2018 there would be 50.6 Million jobs, or 5.06 Million per year.

That breaks down to 421,666 jobs per month.

The BLS also projected that 67% of those jobs would be available because Boomers retired (or died).

That would be about 282,516 jobs per month.

No doubt the BLS was wrong because their Birth/Death Model written by an idiot "you-Harvard" is flawed.

Why is it unfair?

Strange. You did everything in your power to keep countries from developing, so they could not compete against you, and now that they are finally developing and competing against you, you claim it is "unfair."

Get off your high horse, seain. My grandpa died in 2005, but he lived through the Great Depression. He would tell us stories of how it was now and then. What we are experiencing now seems nowhere near what he would describe. I don't understand why you think my comment about lack of food is so outrageous. I measure misery by how hard it is to secure the basics of life -- food, shelter, clothing, etc. By that standard, we seem to be doing ok.

Sadly, the green agenda, like the stimulus, is just a way to push money out to supporters. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sadly, real environmental concerns, ideas and causes will be denigrated after being co-opted by the thieves in DC.

This generation was founded on hard work ethics, before computers, iphones and ipads. These people were brought up to believe if you work hard you will be rewarded, in the last couple of decades a new alternative thinking has taken place by generations born from the baby boomers. The thinking is think smarter not harder. This in itself has lead to skyrocketing obesity and medical costs. Exercise is something we do in living rooms and we are inundated with new forms of medications, commercials targeting depressed people etc. The days of working hard for most Americans means sitting at a keyboard clacking and crunching numbers....When I was in the Marines we would work 14 hours at times unloading mail from sealand trucks, as an electrician I would be in trenches installing conduit all day. Now that these jobs are less than desireable for your average American illegals have jumped in to perform them. They do it with pride and determination. I can remember seeig them watch me as I wired up a panel and they were learning, absorbing the information. Now that the babyboom generation has slowed the generation x's ask why are we in a recession, its because they werent taught how to work hard and keep this country in the hands of Americans. So yes the depression was caused by the inability or know how to get off the a%% and perform real work.

There are some and they are great guys too.

This has not been my experience though after 31 years in the trade.

Can't tell you how much time has been spent going behind the guys that can throw it in quick to fix it.
A big part of the undesirable part is not being able to communicate with coworkers in what can be a dangerous job.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled thread.
