I think both groups are a joke and more similar then different.
The base of both movements are naive people who don't understand what's going on. In the case of OWS, they are ranting at the system, saying it's not fair, yet can't explain why. The TEA party rants and raves saying we want small and local government, yet run with this idiot Perry or globalist in Romney. Both of these groups are naive and stupid.
Both parties have been hijacked by billionaires. OWS has Soros behind them, the TEA Party has Dick Armey and Freedom Works behind them.
Both parties are clueless foot soldiers doing what they are told to do.
My message to OWS: get a job and get with the real world. Your not Dr. King and the civil rights protesters who I respected and protested for legit reasoning. You are shouting and protesting things you don't understand and things you are told to protest without thinking.
My message to TEA party: stop pretending your bi-partisan because you are not. Your lackeys for the republican party and will vote for whoever the GOP tells you to. You make no difference and nobody cares about you. Sit back, collect your social security and other government programs, keep voting republican: even though it's just big government and more spending, sit in your place like you always do and know your role, which is to vote for who they tell you to vote for.
The people in the middle like myself are just laughing at both these idiots.

Last I heard the Tea Party Movement was successful at getting its approved candidates elected over the objections of the party establishment and is in the process of taking over the Republican Party.

Yeah enjoy your laugh and go vote for Obama again, that's working out real well. And really, if you're tired of Obama you can vote for Romney and not notice the difference.

Occupy Wall Street vs. Tea Party, more similarities then differences
Here's a big difference between the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street: OWS is entirely in keeping with the anti-capitalist, class-warfare, envy-driven, economically illiterate rhetoric of the President of the United States. The Tea Party is not.
Here's a major similarity: Barack Obama's policies and pronouncements led directly to the formation of both.

I agree with the title to your post but not your analysis/opinion. There are many more similarities to the Tea Party protests and the Occupy Wall Street protests than the media would have us think. It's easy and lazy (and incorrect) journalism to paint the Tea Party movement as a bunch of right-wing, possibly racist rednecks and yahoos upset with a black president. The beginnings of the Tea Party movement originated with opposition to TARP (bank bail-outs) and the $800 billion stimulus. They were just as opposed to the corporate Republican establishment as they were the big government "progressive" Democrats.
The Occupy Wall Street movement also has its origins in opposition to the government subsidising the big banks and financial institutions while the average American sees little if any benefit from it. The Occupy Wall Street people seem almost as opposed to the "progressive" Obama administration as the Tea Party does (although often for different reasons)
The Tea Party protestors were mostly white and middle class, while the Occupy Wall Street protestors are mostly younger and more "alternative". So it's easy to paint them as opposites based purely on this, but they both agree that something is terribly wrong in this country and our elites, whether they are Democrat or Republican, seem to be completely out of touch with the average person and don't seem to have a clue on how to fix things (assuming they actually want to fix things). Even though I realize there are other groups that are financing these movements and trying to piggy back onto them, the bottom line is that there is genuine anger in this country and the establishment (and I include the liberal Democrats in this just as much as the corporate Republicans) does not know how/does not want to change course to set this country back on the right track.

Similar complaints. Different solutions.
WSO want more government.
Tea Party believes less government is the answer.

One group has working people, the other does not.
One group is clean, the other are a bunch of pigs.
One group is full of grass roots Americans and the other is full of communists, anarchists, left wing democrats and lazy people.
