when you read the skeptics on the "plot" you realize that this may have a lot more to do with holder trying to 1)change the "subject" off of his fast and furious participation-which resulted in the actual death of american citizens, and 2) mobilize the world for an "action" against iran:

i would say somebody is hoping to start a fight, but most americans are NOT on board with the program.

Here are some things Americans need to remember. We signed a $60 billion dollar arms deal with SA last year. We have been wanting to take out Iran for decades. The US economy is circling the drain. Fast and Furious is the new watergate. According to the Patriot Act we can send drones into any country we want who is considered to be harboring terrorists willing to do the US harm.
Our country is being torn to shreds by government warmongers and WallStreet bankers and we sit back and applaud these whackjobs like lemmings waiting to follow them over the cliff. Pathetic. Our support for Israel and SA two of the biggest state sponsors of terrorism both covertly and overtly and two of the biggest violators of human rights is disgusting.

1) Holder needed a distraction from the gun running thing- similar tactic to 9/11 happening the day after huge money was discovered missing- which Rumsfeld announced on 9/10 and was completely forgotten in the aftermath of 9/11- as well the coinkydink of the accounting area of the Pentagon being bombed out.
Holder needed something "heroic looking" to at least take some sting out of the gun running debacle, and something that would reflect well on the O admin as well.
2) Mexican cartel connection?? Hinky- why was this added into the "story"?? Further study will reveal the underlying reason, perhaps.
3) Fear. Let's keep them scared while we institute further restrictions on freedom.
4) American citizen alleged as terrorist- more fear- see above.
5)Escalating the idea of Iran as as bogeyman. Laying foundation for continuing the "war on terrorism" far into the foreseeable future.
The same old, same old Problem-Reaction-Solution B.S. that many of us can see through quite easily at this point.
I have not read the replies, but somehow I am sure the right will turn it into an attack on the President. They are happy to whine that the President is responsible for everything every government agency does, ATF, but the second one of the agencies does something good they will say he has nothing to do with it. yup, you bet. the same people who went after bush and his wmd story are going after the pres and his iran terror plot story. why? because it stinks! whether mitt romney or the president win the election, the outcome will be the same, go to war with iran at all costs, troops to syria and if we can sell it to the people, invade mexico!

Not only are they building nuclear weapons, they have made countless threats to "wipe Isreal off the face of the earth", and threats against the US or any other western power they dont like at the moment. The Iranian goverment is a group of lunatics. Yes your right Iran is much bigger and much more complicated than Libya, BUT most of its citizens have had it with thier oppressors. They attempted to stand up to them several years ago but could not beat the security forces. Another poster cited our actions in 1953 as a reason we are to blame for what happened over there. He is right, we have proped up dictators in the past and we should not have. However our past errors in foriegn policy are not a reason to ignore current threats, and tolerate dictatorships like the one that exists in Iran. Iran has clearly become a threat to us, and we should develope a plan to facilitate the end to thier evil regime. We should not tolerate the threat of a nuclear 9-11 and the people who live under those lunatics in Iran deserve better as well. You can call it a neo-con fantasy if you want, but that is the way I see it.

The whole thing sounds very convenient but like everything Obama does its clumsy and poorly thought out.
So we put US troops on the border to protect against terrorists but not illegals. Of course, they'll make a big deal stopping a few illegals and drug smugglers. So they appease the right and the left can't really complain.
The saudis can then increase oil prices citing unrest in the area. And the Iranians go running to China and Russia as we square off in a chess game over there. Everybody gets a piece of the buildup spending and oil prices stay high.
Its like Cheney and Bush never left.
