Damn those Commie college students and recent graduates. They want everything for free, even their drugs. They're just lazy and stupid. Who cares that they cannot afford a college education that can cost well over 100K. Those lazy Commies!
HIGHER education leading to HIGHER CAREERS is a pay thing..always has..and should be
So you don't think we should start charging tuition at public elementary schools? Why not?
Those little socialist bastards are getting a free ride off taxpayer money. If I didn't have to pay property taxes, I could've bought a jet ski. That would've created jobs down at the jet ski factory.
How about the government go and collect the billions of dollars in student loans that hasn't been repaid by those who graduated, defaulted and have been working long enough to have repaid it?
The government IS collecting money from those people AND making millions of dollars in "fees" on top of it.
The government takes the tax refunds, stimulus checks, and even Social Security these people get, and take 20 percent off the top as a fee.
At one time I was temporarily disabled, living on $800 a month, and the Department of Education was taking $150 a month, of which $30 was their fee for the privilege. This meant only $120 was going toward paying off the loan, instead of the $150 they were taking.
If you're making minimum wage, how long is "long enough" to have repaid a student loan?
So you don't think we should charge kids tuition to attend elementary school? Why not?
I said low cost
and BASIC education...enough to be VIABLE adults is paid for by my PROPERTY TAX for that LOCAL school..and I think it shoud be based on how many )if any) kids you have in the system...so yes I would agree with a tuition (kind of like private school) IN PLACE of my property taxes
college is not a right.nor should it be free
you want college..work for it.. just like most people...
not everything needs to be handed to you as an entitlement
its only free to LEACHES and PARASITES...someone still has to ;pay
unreasonably stiff???
whats stiff about it...here is a loan for xx amount of dollars..we charge a 10% interest fee..pay it back AS FAST AS YOU CAN to avoid compounding interest
whats so hard about PAYING YOUR DEBTS....Oh I know liberals dont care about debts, as long as SOMEONE ELSE pays it for them
Not many decent paying jobs left, like I said earlier in real life if I owe 80 grand on loans I'm not working for 8 dollars per hour, if my field is totally outsourced to India I'm not going back to slap on another 80k on another field.
In the conservatives world corporations run free to rape the consumer and its the consumer who's held accountable, never the business and that typical right wing logic.
It's no jobs, what should we do? We need a more educated workforce and tougher regulations on outsourcing.
So what about the people who actually pay for college out of their own pocket-- do you think they should get a dollar for dollar deduction as well?
Yes. Well, mummy and dadsy would, anyway, since I'd venture MOST students who pay "out of pocket" without loans (not all, of course, especially those doing two years at CC) are having parents foot the bill.

Most students who take out loans would not be able to write off tuition payments, because they don't have enough income while in school to make deductions worthwhile. Therefore, the deduction cannot be taken when it would be most beneficial.
