Do these people have jobs, families to take care of, hobbies, or school?

These fake astroturf movements are costing cities lots of money due to the cost of police and cleanup. They are also negatively affecting the businesses and stores around the protest zones.

Please end your pathetic and pointless movements and go do something productive to help grow the economy.

There are plenty of people with nothing else to do, no job, spouse, or kids, many of them receiving monthly checks subsidized from our taxes. Then add to that group the college students wanting to have a little fun, and the homeless who might get a meal from others in the group. They finally made some arrests last night in Seattle.

Well, they had to do something when Glenn Beck went off the air on Fox News. I bet there were massive layoffs at MoveOn.org.

I would guess there are two ways that keep them from having to work for a living - or at least be out looking for work. Trust funds and welfare programs.

i don't believe for a minute that these movements are all fake. have you noticed that the media puts down BOTH the tea party and the OWS movement? WHY IS THAT? there are obviously some poseurs in any movement, but i think some of the people have their heart in the right place.

as denninger (not so eloquently) put it:
Here's the thing: Even today, CNBC is still talking about "recapitalizing the banks." What's "recapitalize" mean? It means steal from you. See, the reason you need to "recapitalize" these firms is that they*****ed away their own capital by doing dangerous, risky, even fraudulent things.

The corporate media and politicians are still claiming that "we made a profit from TARP" and that "everything was repaid."

This is a bald lie. AIG didn't repay their money. Neither did GM. Money was shuffled around in a complex shell game to appear that all was repaid but in fact what happened was that you, the taxpayer, were looted.

You were looted through higher prices at the gas pump, higher prices at the grocery store, lower wages and at the same time zero interest rates so those of you who were prudent got ****ed THREE TIMES instead of twice!

Representative government? Where? By anywhere from 100:1 to 300:1 the people demanded that TARP NOT pass. That the banks that did foolish and in some cases criminal things be forced to eat the consequences.

Again, as I've said for four years: We need a banking system because we do indeed need a way to clear payments so you can pay a bill or buy gasoline and food - so commerce can flow. We do not need these banks that committed these acts.

But rather than do the right thing, our politicians were bought and paid for on both sides of the aisle. It's particularly telling - and galling - that when allegedly being "grilled" by Hank Paulson in 2008 the banksters left the meeting smiling and yucking it up.

First they ****ed you, then the government paid them to **** you again.

Now, finally, it appears that the people have awoken. A day of ineffectual sign-waving isn't enough any more. Oh sure, that's part of it, but the part the media is ignoring - for now - is what's happening after the "able to be ignored political rally" is over.

The people are organizing a Congress - a real one - in the public square.

They're passing around ideas.

Where do these baggers and hippies find the time to protest?

Seen the unemployment figures? Thought about the true unemployment figures (roughly double those reported)?

Find the time? What else do they have but time since there are not enough jobs?

The original tea partiers, not the ones who have been co-opted by the Republican party, and the OWS movement share much in the way of common ground..they should get together.

Instead though, you have establishment Republicans and Democrats telling each side what they should think of the other...and, of course, you have the mindless partisan sheep following right along and doing what they're told. No wonder this country is so screwed up. Very few folks seem to think for themselves anymore..

Ya, and they did in the 18th century, too, but they got out of their comfort zone of stagnation and laziness and created a country.

BAD Americans hide in their comfort/safe zone and do nothing ( BUT WHINE).

The purpose of protests and demonstrations is to cause disruption.

Like what?

Just what do you want people to do who can't find jobs....

I know Repugs want them to become slaves but that's not what Americans should ever have to be again.

Typically the tea party protestors did not stop working and stay at a park for weeks. They would go to a protest for a day. They were still able to have jobs, families and hobbies and protest/rally.
