There are US Special Forces going, not merely "advisors".

I'm going to ask again: Why is this not a job for UN Peace Keeping Forces rather than the US?

I guess Ike and his Congress didn't learn anything from Truman refusing to let MacArthur run the war in Korea.

I will say that it won't be more than 6 months till that original 100 becomes at least 1000 or much more.
You are right and history repeats itself. We will become involved in another war that the armchair generals and the liberals will allow to become another high casualty war. We will never fight a war like we really need to.

That is what they did in Vietnam, only sending "Advisors" to help the French and Diem armies fight off the Viet-Minh, look how that turned out.

Remember when liberals were saying not to go to war with Iraq because they weren't a threat to us? Remember when the rape and torture rooms were found and former prisoners recounted their stories of the torture they endured and young children held in prisons and yet the liberals still insisted we should not have gone to Iraq. And now that a Democrat is president some liberals here are supporting his sending troops to an area that is no threat to us where certain groups commit acts of torture and rape.

Because you now control Libya and are building a drone base there and in Yemen.

You'll need to gather intelligence and set up "pro-Democracy" groups so that you can destabilize sub-Saharan Africa. If you destabilize sub-Saharan Africa, then BRIC cannot develop it.

Apparently this is not our first attempt. And we will be contributing 10 million to these countries plus whatever this military action entails.

LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act of 2009

The US is uniquely positioned to help stop LRA atrocities, especially by leading efforts to secure the critical first step in ending the insurgency - arresting Joseph Kony and other top LRA commanders. However, previous efforts to apprehend Kony, including a failed US-supported regional military operation against the LRA last year, have lacked sufficient engagement and investment from US leaders. With more robust diplomatic leadership, the US can spearhead a multilateral strategy to see Kony arrested that has a strong possibility of success and that includes measures to adequately protect civilians and abducted children from harm.

To this end, the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act:
Mandates President Obama to devise an interagency strategy within 180 days to prevent further LRA violence, which should include a multilateral plan to apprehend top LRA leaders, encourage defections of rebel commanders, demobilize child soldiers, and protect civilians from rebel attacks; and
Calls for the US to dedicate $10 million in emergency support for communities in the DR Congo, South Sudan and Central African Republic most affected by recent LRA attacks.

Despite experiencing over two years free of LRA violence, northern Uganda has yet to benefit from a significant peace dividend

To this end, the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act:
Calls for the US to dedicate $10 million for each of the next three years to support underfunded reconciliation and transitional justice initiatives in Uganda;

Resolve - LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act of 2009

Two years free of LRA violence?????? Then what the .........k Somethin is stinky here.

Liberals? It's always 'liberals vs conservatives' with some people.

Going to Iraq to stop human rights violations would have been lame at best. Almost 6 million people have been massacred in central Africa, and it has been going on for well over a decade, and the entire Bush presidency. If Bush's agenda was to end crimes against humanity, then Congo would have been his #1 priority, and Irag would have been waaaayyyy down the list, maybe #100 or so. Let's get real. If we can stop a genocide with 100 troops, then it is well worth the effort.
