So what you are saying is a school rule was broken but because no-one was around to see it it's ok.
If they were seeking privacy why didn't they go in the bathroom?
Has nothing to do with gay, has everything to do with kids not following the rules and their stupidity of making out in front of CCTV...
The excuse used sounds the same and just as lame as a person busted for speeding...
"Why don't you guys spend your time chasing down criminals instead of stopping me for nothing except speeding"
That's exactly what I'm saying, your comprehension skills have improved. .
It was a kiss..... NOT a violent act or drug dealing and we are all NOT aware of cameras watching our every move....so that argument is LAME.
I doubt the boys checked for cameras before smooching.........
I don't know about you....... but gay or not..... male hormones are at their peak in one's teen years.
The bathroom...are you kidding me....ROFLMFAO........private.........Sounds to me IF they were caught kissing in there they would both possibly be murdered in this town.......GET A GRIP man!!!!!!
You really need to CHILL OUT and stop trying to flame the thread!
Who is flaming?
What I'm saying is this couple is stupid for:
1. Flaunting the rules of the school.
2. Making out in front of a CCTV camera.
A "young couple who obviously were seeking privacy" in a public place in view of a CCTV camera are stupid, period.
Being gay does not cause stupidity as you and I both know.
Since you are so outraged and affronted by this incident I'm sure you will be following the court case in minute detail and posting the progress of the court trial as to whether the school practiced discrimination or not.
Inappropriate, yes. They shouldn't be kissing at school. I don't think the kid should have been kicked off his squad for it. TOTAL overkill. I highly doubt the same punishment would have been applied to a girl cheerleader if she were kissing her boyfriend.
I don't think it's overkill. The school has rules it expects students to abide by. If students don't abide by said rules, they need to face the consequences. Getting suspended and kicked off of the cheer squad is certainly within the realm of acceptable punishment.

You are the one who basically stated that all actions are okay as long as no one sees them. Want to now recant that initial ridiculous statement?
This has nothing to do about bigotry and everything to do with maintaining order.
This a public forum. I will "inflame" your thread all I want. SOMEONE needs to be the voice of reason.
So are gays being bullied or not? This kid seems well adjusted and is openly kissing boys at school. To hear the media tell it being gay in school is akin to living a life constant harassment.
The world isn't black and white. Just because one gay boy is comfortable kissing another guy at school doesn't mean that all gay boys in America are comfortable at school.
Please tell me you understand that basic level of complexity.
The funny thing here is that no one actually saw them kissing. The school administration was going through security tapes and saw the "transgression".
Seems to me that Texas school officials should put more effort into educating students(the high school graduation rate there is abysmal); rather than scrutinizing security footage and looking to start trouble by harassing this young couple who obviously were seeking privacy.
The young gentleman's parents are suing the school administration.
This Idiot Website won't let me give you another reputation point for this brilliant post so I may as well try to express my admiration by posting my admiration indirectly.
LMAO at the Sanford and Son reference....
Jesus Christ herself told me to post this right after she finished whispering into Michelle Bachmann's ear so please don't delete this or I can call this a Christian Hate Crime.
This is going over my head. This story is clear. The boys stood in front of the security cameras, kissed, got caught, got punished, and ran to the media complaining about discrimination.
Getting suspended and kicked off a team for this type of behavior is not inappropriate.
I don't agree with your poorly veiled agenda.
Can you get through a post without saying "agenda"..... just wondering....???
Kids have been making out and kissing in the hallways and at school ever since schools have been around... My first kiss was in school... Clearly the administration is a little homophobic and is trying to make an example out of the guys. I'd do the exact same thing. They've got my support

Though I can't prove that boys and girls kiss all the time in that school, I'd bet that the routine punishment, especially for 1st time offenders, isn't getting kicked off a team or club.
I'd love to see the family get this year's security tapes and every football player seen kissing a girl [or boy] is kicked off the football team. And every teacher who witnessed the kissing gets punished. Fair ?

Again, if an opposite sex couple was not punished in the same way, then YES, it is unfair and overkill.
