Notice: This is a thread about "equal rights" under the Law. Please refrain from discussing dating habits, housework, splitting the bills, etc. Thanks!
Does anyone on this forum believe that the modern-day feminist movement is about “equal rights”?
If so, then perhaps they could explain why we’ve ended up with special sets of laws pertaining to women, e.g. the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Violence against anybody is wrong, and there were already laws to address violence. But that was not enough for feminists. Instead they have banded together in organizations like NOW (National Organization for Women), and routinely fight for more-than-equal rights. And that’s why we also have:
a) a governmental Office on Violence Against Women and no Office on Violence Against Men,
b) the average prison sentence for women being shorter than the average prison sentence for men for the same exact crime,
c) the average time served in prison for women being shorter than the average time served in prison for men for the same exact crime,
d) District Attorneys offering more substantial charge reductions (pleas) to women under indictment than to men under indictment, especially in cases involving a woman killing a man vs. a man killing a woman,
e) a legal system that permits, on the one hand, women to claim their fetus has no rights so abortion is permissible, but on other hand when a pregnant woman is killed, the murderer get’s charged with a double murder as though the fetus does have rights.
f) presumptions in Family Court that place the burden on the father to prove that the mother is unfit in order for him to prevail in custody battles, while at the same time placing no burden on the mother to prove the father is unfit in order for her to prevail in custody battles,
g) laws written in such a way that it is perfectly legal for a mother to unilaterally decide to abort a father’s unborn child (a child that has half of his genes), but if the mother elects to keep the baby she can pursue the father for child support.
Every one of the issues cited above constitutes a violation of the U.S. Constitution as it relates to due process, equal application of the law, equal protection under the law, gender based discrimination under the law, etc. and every one of these issues is a direct result of the ongoing feminist movement.
I am all for equal rights across the board, however, it would seem that feminist organizations like NOW push for more and more inequality.
What are your thoughts on the Feminist Movement as it relates to “equal rights”?
Note: Please do not turn this into a women bashing thread, as not all women are feminists, and not all feminists belong to NOW.

Perhaps you should consult the appropriate literature for these questions, instead of asking the opinions of us here. Are you merely looking for corroboration for your opinions?
that man tried to protect himself against to sirens while doing his job. Its okay for them to hit him but when he fights back its an atrocity. Now this man has a bail posted at 40k while the lizards who assaulted him got a slap on the wrist. Talk about the backwards nature of our so called "just" legal system.

No, I am not looking for validation..
I am genuinely looking for the perceptions of those who are actively dating and involved in male-female relationships, those who have experienced going through the justice system, those who are married, those who are divorced, those who are fighting for custody of children, those who have contemplated abortion, those who have had abortions, those fathers whose partner has had an abortion, individuals (male or female) who have seen the positive in the feminist movement and the negatives of the feminist movement, etc. I hope to get as many responses as possible.

Nope, only about certain women in the United States, modern day feminists couldn't give a sh*t less about women in the rest of the world...
