Because some people are pathologically ignorant, pathologically partisan, belong to a party that says "if it's not what I like, then you must not be an American", and my favorite; if you don't think like me you must be on a plantation.

Because they have started to believe their own propaganda. They think any thing Bad/doesn't work = Liberal

Examples
Bush = Liberal
Patriot act = Liberal
Iraq war = Liberal
McCain = Liberal
Neo-Conservative = Liberal

You folks have lost me here. The OP was that you think liberals are jumping up and down because conservatives are going to be spied on. The liberal people posting think it's horrible--they're saying that the liberals were upset with the patriot act. You in turn argue with them that the liberal members of Congress voted for it right alongside the republicans.

So--what you're saying is that the conservatives were fine with spying on US citizens all along, as long as they weren't personally a target, and now that they are, they're upset?

I think this is a good lesson in being careful what you wish for.

My favorite think to ask someone when they say Hitler was a liberal is..."So I take it that means you want to support candidates to the right of Hitler."

Sounds like $525,000 of funding not needed by the government..... a little drop towards that deficit... way more than what repugs were gonna get for NPR.... Where is the interest to go after this? I'm sure the repugs will put it at the top of their agenda.
